Friedman: Colorado Avalanche looking for forward help

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. Donata, AA, Craig Smith, Pat Maroon Lukas Riechel, Joey Anderson, Mykaiev

You guys still that down on Reichel? He looked good a few days against the Avs…I thought he looked more engaged and he’s clearly talented.

Most of the rest of those guys make too much for what they bring (fine for rebuilding Chicago, not fine for Colorado). If Donato made less he’d be interesting and Smith as a dirt cheap vet would be fine. Anderson I feel will be on waivers soon enough. Hard no on AA and Mikheyev.

Montreal has 0 interest in Georgiev and not in a swap for Armia.
Maybe Armia could be had for a 3rd, I guess we'll see how it plays out but there are probably several vets on the block. but habs don't really need picks.
I don't see any situation where Heinemann is available unless it's something that will hurt for you to give up. And it won't be a second rounder. Emil is very much in the habs plans and playing with Caufield and suzuki tonight, I believe.
I think Hughes is vigilant about losing the Lehkonen and Newhook deals (for now anyway).

That’s a fair take. I think there will be some solid general interest in Armia at the deadline. He’s inconsistent and getting a bit old but that expiring deal, if retained, becomes nice and he has some unique traits that will appeal to contenders IMO.

Thanks for your reply, all of that sounds reasonable.

Habs probably won't be able to retain on Armia since they only have one retention slot left and will likely want to use it on guys with higher caphits in more premium positions like Dvorak and Savard.

i think the avs are in a money in, money out situation. i think they'll have to find someone near league min unless the other team wants to take back a contract like georgiev or kahkonen.

Leafs have a forward surplus and a lack of cap space.

Calle Jarnkrok?
David Kampf?
Nick Robertson?
Connor Dewar?

Weird timing for this now that over the next few weeks, a lot of their top 9 is coming back to the lineup. Avs are pretty limited on moves assuming these injured guys all eventually come back.

They need help ? Habs have many forwards to give away. Dvorak, Armia, Newhook…. Mid draft picks are welcomed.

Newhook for Lehkonen ?

Newhook and Barron for Lehkonen and a 1st round pick ?
Doubt the Avs would have any interest in your trades even if Montreal were the ones adding a 1st. Newhook's caphit makes it a non-starter and Barron isn't better than what they already have at 3RHD (Malinski). Lehkonen is more valuable to a contender than a pick which would just need to be used to acquire a (worse) replacement for Lehkonen.

In Lehkonen's case, isn't he set to come back by November 5th barring any set backs? That should be a huge boost.
