College Hockey College Free Agent talk II

Started reading this and when it said a “confirmed source” I new it was Murphy and couldn’t go on. The guy is about as legit as the tooth fairy 🧚
Didn't read the source. Just was hoping it was true after searching Bruins + College Free Agents. Good grief Charlie Brown now I know it's definitely not true.

PS. If the Bs do sign the kid. We'll hell Jimmy finally got lucky.

I’m used to the Bruins actively pursuing college free agents.

Are they waiting for the NCAA championship to finish to pursue some of the top players? Will they be active at all this year?

My list is being cleaned up by other teams, but the Bruins still have a very good chance at one of them

Riley Thompson and Josh Nadeau sound intriguing. Not sure how many contracts they have signed and how close to the limit they are but a few college FAs might spruce up the prospect pool.

What I would like to see,

If you invited a player to prospect camp you should have the rights of first signing of that player if said player leaves college . Something like a 24 hour window.

What's the point of bringing these kids in to see them sign with another team. The coaching staff give these kids a list of things they need to work on and point out their flaws.

Seems like a waste of time and effort while taking time away from your own drafter prospects in camp.

Am I out to lunch on this?

I think so. There’s no reason to create control over a player’s rights just for coming to an invite. It’s a two way street - you need to impress upon the player why they should sign with you. If the teams thought it was a waste of time they wouldn’t do it like they do.

Other teams scouts and development staffs go to these events so it's not just the host team getting all the looks on these kids

And some kids go to multiple different camps over their career.

They used to be very aggressive, but I don't think they signed anyone last year. I really wanted them to take a flyer on Graf.

Sure and Graf really wanted the easiest path to NHL ice time. Ultimately the UDFA get to choose where they want to be and most have many options

If the Bruins could get Boija and sign a couple of their draft picks (Gasseau, maybe Locmelis), I'd consider it a great college haul . getting a winger (Hryckowian, Bancroft) would be that cherry on top of the sundae
