The only thing wrong with White is a glass body. If he could stay healthy he is a 50 pt forward and there is nothing wrong with the contract. But a strong wind could see him on LTIR.

I guess a team that has an ongoing contract they can't afford for White + pick with the idea that White is bought out in the offseason. I doubt we could get anyone decent from a team that needs cap space in a deal like this, so I'd rather just buy him out. The buyout is so cheap compared to anything we could get, I just don't think we can get anything better done. Good on them for trying though.

I suggested Yzerman was kicking tires on White a few weeks back when he was in town. Hopefully he wasn’t sold on what he saw though.

Hes not a 50 point forward. Hes a bottom 6 guy who thinks hes a top 6 guy. He doesnt hit, fight, play pk, battle or do anything.

His puck skills, skating and hockey IQ are not great.

I'll laugh so hard if someone trades for that anchor of a contract.
Its not even that bad relative to the other horrible contracts the team has. He is also easily a top 9 best forward on a team that is 20 million below the cap, it really makes no sense for the sens to deal him. Everyone knows if they buy him out that they wont spend the money on an extra better player, it will be another Ennis, Gaudette or Gambrell. So essentially they just get worse no matter how you shake it.

But lets look at it from the human side and how his teammates probably look at it. Known sens mouth piece starts putting his name out after just coming back from a brutal injury. That must feel good for the player.... I bet guys like Chabot, Batherson, Tkachuk etc love seeing this type of thing. A guy they are actually friends with and like, and is better than half the players the team has dressed all year is getting shopped after losing a teammate they already liked today. This management group is just absolutely tone def to the culture of the team. More incompetence, making Ottawa the least desirable place to play. How long before guys like Tkachuk and Chabot are looking to get out. How motivated would Norris be to sign an extension.

He put up 47 in '18-19. He could be a low level 2c if he wasn't injury prone. He can't play a rough and tumble style because he will always be on the injury list if he does.

I think this would be a brilliant pickup for Arizona with where they're at right now. They could grab another asset by taking the contract and White is actually a pretty solid player. The only reason anyone speaks negatively about him is because he has a fat contract. He's an effective 2/3 liner.

Probably something like White + Tampa 2nd in exchange for a lesser pick. Personally I'd be fine if the sens kept him.

Editing to add Larsson could be an interesting fit here too instead of a pick.
Look again. He had one promising year 3 years ago, and has been crap ever since. Effective is about the last descriptor i would use for him.

I don't need to look again. I watch all the sens games. He's obviously more on the side of a 3rd liner but he plays his part quite well.

To knights for Dadanov? White is on LTIR from what I recall, so that would kick their cap problems down the road and possibly give them a young reclamation player to work with next year?

The pros on Colin White:
1. Highly effective possession player - year after year, he is above average and one of the Sens best in almost all possession metrics and has solid expected goal differential #s.
2. Effective around the net - a huge portion of his points come from quick plays around the net. He can play this role at ES and could be a very good piece on a PP2, and even a viable piece on a PP1.
3. Above average in transition.
4. Beloved teammate.
5. Can play C/RW.

The cons:
1. Not strong enough and below average physically.
2. Not dynamic offensively - no above average skills besides net play & straight-line speed.
3. Below average on face-offs.
4. Average defensively.

All this adds up to a player who is difficult to find a role for. But, with the right role and the right teammates, I do think he can be a $3m + player and has the potential for more. He will have a solid, long career if he can stay healthy.

Sens could buy White out, spread out over 6 years, for less than Dadonov is owed next year. On top of that, White is back in the lineup & healthy. 7pts in 15 games since his return.

That's a fairly accurate report from someone who is a Devils fan (or else?)

Easy trade to make from Ottawa's perspective but we're 99% on TJ's no-trade list.

This I don't understand though, why would Ottawa do this?
