, lol. Took a gander at some earlier posts in this thread.... So many users were reaching in their posts, you'd think Logan Stanley was posting.
He’s on pace for 48pts playing 5 min a period. Could eclipse the 60 pt mark if we are lucky. How many players not on the PP with the same TOI are doing so much better. Lowry Perfetti Names Nino and Apples are all mid 6 with similar TOI and pts.
Regardless if those guys could step up and take some pressure off our leaders would make a difference.

looking at perfetti objectively;
last year he had a hot start to 2023-2024
oct-23: 6 pts in 9 gp, 3.71 5v5 pts/60
nov-23: 12 pts in 13 gp, 1.96 5v5 pts/60
since dec-23: 90 gp he's at 0.48 ppg, and 1.41 5v5 pts/60.
this year, he had a hot start again in October, and then diminished the following couple months.
this is not a discussion of what he'll be in the future, few years from now, etc. frankly believe some posters need to readjust or temper their player comparables. the Jets simply aren't getting enough from the 2nd line right now. ehlers as well has not been his usual prolific self at 5v5 based on his standards, however still rates high relative to this year's Jets fwds in 5v5 scoring. i think the light is on the other 2 as they have severely lacked offensive consistency in my view.
to me, ehlers & perfetti are supposed to be the ones pushing it offensively w/ names doing the support/2way/clean up work, but it only works if there's two offensive threats imo, and perfetti isn't that right now.
anyway, what are folks' opinions on this? imo the Jets will likely add another top-6er in the fold, i am unsure if there are good centers available and wings do usually end up being larger in supply. does perfetti move to C to do the support stuff and another winger brought in? do the coaches trust him at C in the POs?

Like someone brought up in the PGT, I think that Ehlers and Perfetti play different styles of games and it's tough for them to build the type of chemistry that elevates both of themlooking at perfetti objectively;

As for fixing it, that's tough to say. You hate to tinker with the Schief line because they DO have that chemistry at times
I guess you're looking for a type of player that can play a bit of both of their games. But if i were to think about it, I could say that Perfetti would look good with a natural sniper, but im not sure what kind of player Ehlers would gel with. He has his own style of play
With regards to Perfetti's ceiling, thats a tough one too. He does too many things well to be a 0.5 point per game player his whole career. He sees the ice and distributes the puck very well. He can slow the game down with the puck on his stick like few guys can
That said, it doesn't happen very often. Why? Who knows
If the first line goes cold perfetti and kc would be perfect together.

Who plays on the right? Personally I think the answer lies in getting an actual #2 center. Otherwise you are just shuffling around your top 6 wingers leaving 2 without a legitimate #2 center to play with.
Perfetti can play on his off wing. He is a great passer and needs someone to just finish. Not trying to to do everything.
I hope Arniel uses our buffer to experiment a little, though. You never know what kind of possibilities there are until you try something; maybe Perfetti looks great as a C beside Connor, etc.
As for chemistry re: Buffdog's post, I think Ehlers has looked really good with:
- Scheifele
- Copp
- Namestnikov at times
- Vilardi
- Perreault
I think Ehlers likes to be 'the guy' and wants players who will clean up after him. Scheif is really, really good at doing that but I doubt he likes it. Ehlers probably works best with heavier players who will do hard work and are also competent finishers/passers (ala Copp, Perreault to an extent). I think Vilardi's ability to finish and his board play probably make him a prime candidate. Maybe Nino as well. I have my doubts about Lowry being an answer here.
Perfetti... I'm not sure. I think he probably wants players he can read off of a little better. Scheif, Connor come to mind. I don't think Perfetti can do what Vilardi does currently though, that's not his style.
The simplest thing to do might be to see if Nino - Namestnikov - Ehlers works. That leaves fourth line Perfetti.
Otherwise you're breaking up the top line, tough sell for dubious gain:
Ehlers - Scheif - Vilardi
Connor - Perfetti - Iafallo/Appleton
Nino - Lowry - Iafallo/Appleton

On paper, I really like the idea of Connor - Perfetti - Iafallo
AI is such a puck hound in the O zone... I could imagine him digging the puck off the boards, Perfetti in close support picking it up, and finding Connor as he finds the soft spot in the d zone coverage
I also think it's very reasonable to imagine that Ehlers would like to play with Schief, but not the other way around. Schief's game is predictable enough that Ehlers would be able to read him but not necessarily vice versa. That said, their results together are undeniable as has been posted on here ad nauseum
I think another benefit of playing around with line combos at this time in the season is that it might break up the monotony of the grind that is the NHL season.
The stretch between now and the 4 Nations will be a grind physically and mentally for all teams, but one's who are fighting to climb into playoff spots have a reason to get up for games. For a team like the Jets, the challenge is to not get complacent but also not run themselves into the ground
I can come up with a few line up changes I’d be inclined to try and none of them involve moving Perfetti out of the top 6. It just isn’t warranted. Quality teams like Tampa, Boston, Minnesota, Colorado, St.L, Wash, and Carolina are all running out top 6 and PP with a player or 2 with similar stats to Perfetti. And they aren’t necessarily sporting the youth and upside of Cole.
I’ve been really impressed with his attention to defence and marked improvement winning pucks battles. I’m sure he was told that needed to improve after last years loss of faith late in the year.
A few things I’d try:
-Cole centering a second line of Ehlers and Iafallo.
- move Perfetti up to play RW with 81-55 and have Vilardi center Nik and Iafallo.
- Kupari centering Cole and Nik.
- trade for a potential 2C with term. Any prospect but salomonsson available. (More of an offseason thing imo)

Mostly agree, but I'd be cautious about moving a good prospect. Cole has to be tried at C, he actually suits center so much more.
Nino Perfetti Ehlers
This would give some speed on the wings, nino some size and a net driver.
i think it may be beneficial to try some different line combos prior to the TDL, to see if there is something else that clicks and see what they really need in terms of upgrades. 3 of the top most commonly used NHL lines are the Jets's top-9 lines.... in the last quarter, the scheifele line was v good after that the rest has been kind of mid or worse. really the only thing that broke them up was injuries (ehlers & appleton), it seems like arniel is v rigid outside of his 3rd pair D rotation.
I think moving Perfetti to center with Ehlers and either Iafallo or Neo is what should be tried as well. Or at the very least just put Perfetti at center and move Namestnikov to the wing . I like the center being the smartest player on a line.

I just find him too timid to really turn the corner and become a difference maker. Tons of skill but just doesnt have that aggressiveness/extra compete level. I dont think that is something you can just turn on either. You have it or you dont. Really thought he was our 2C. Hopes are fading fast.
There are a lot of great players who are soft and perimeter players, but, still help their teams. Like Marner.
Would like to see him play 10 to 20 games at center first before giving up on him.
And Matthews that bandaid .
I say that because he was my 1st pick in my draft and he's killing me with all his missed games.

Havent given up but its getting close. I mean if he hasnt done much of anything on the wing, i dont like the odds of him all of a sudden putting it all together at center.
Except perfetti doesn't have close to the skill or production as Marner
