My thoughts about this as well... I really don't think it's a coincidence that they took Rutger and now Barlow regarding the ongoing leadership and lockerroom issues. They want to make sure that their next generation isn't going down that path as well.
So, now we got two alphas that could make a push for the C one day. Can two strong leadership types co-rule or will they clash? In the end, as with Highlander, there can be only one. In the race to be The Big Cheese, I think you have to give the edge to Colby.

My challenge with Moore and why I didn’t have him in my cluster of players I was hoping would fall to us #18 is I love parts of his game (speed, puck transportation, and Swiss army knife) but the red flag for me is hockey IQ from reading scouting reports. The Scouts I read were split on if he was going to be a centre or winger at the NHL level due to his tendency to not utilize his wingers like you would expect from a center.

I would love to draft more centers and RHD men but when you pick #18 it sucks because the franchise altering centers usually go in the top 10. Listening to Chevy it sounds like they were really surprised and happy Barlow fell to them. The bonus is we get a scoring winger but he actually competes in all 3 zones, is tough to play against, and is more of a playoff prototype which is a refreshing change.

Yes to all of that.
But - Jets have since taken a high school RW over a CHL RHD, with the requisite size, who was rated quite a bit higher.

Down into the 3rd rd I am not familiar with any of these guys. All I can do is look at some stats that may be hard to compare and the scouting service rankings.

Walters says Barlow earned the respect of the locker room's veteran players right away because he’s “the kind of player who will crawl over glass” to win a championship.

Our lineup in 3 years.

Connor-Vilardi-Lambert
Perfetti-Scheif (don't want to hear it)-Lucius
Barlow-McGoalty-Nino
Barron-Lowry-Chib

JMo Lundmark
Samberg Solomonsson
Heinola DD

Who the hell knows for goaltenders?

Seems like it wouldn't be that high of a salary cap not counting goalies? 60ish?
Well you'll hear it anyway. If Scheifele is still playing C for us beyond this year I'll want to shoot myself in the face. Even just this year is going to be a chore to watch this team if he's still playing here and still at C.

Could we maybe get a scan of that going on here? @ps241 ? I know you're a black book connaisseur comme les Spanish would say.

I‘ll see what I can dig up. They were big fans for sure.

I have to admit I kind of Studied the first 30 guys in this draft but without the 2nd round pick I thought I would just review the prospects after we picked

Just based on facial hair he ( Barlow ) looks like he could be Cole Perfetti's dad.

If Craig likes it, you know it's good....

TSN's Craig Button was almost as excited as the Jets that they were able to select the Ontario product.

"In every draft, I have a hockey player crush. Colby Barlow is my hockey player crush. I've watched him play for a number of years now and everything he does in a game is directed towards 'what do I have to do right here and now to help the team win?'" said Button.

"If you need a goal, he's going to try and get you a goal. You need a great penalty kill, he's going to have a great penalty kill. You need some grinding on the wall, he's going to do that. Play down low, screen in front of the net, there is nothing in the game that Colby isn't going to embrace fully."

This is why button is a jets fanboy inside. He just loves their drafting. I feel like he’s said this kind of stuff every year since 2011

Hopefully we at least try Perfetti at C and hope he does well. I don't have a lot of confidence in most of our prospects for any of them turning into a C (McGroarty maybe?).

I do like what I am reading about Barlow, so I am warming up to the pick, but C and RHD is still dangerously low in our prospect pool.

The descriptions of Barlow sound like he could be converted to a C - except that he is a goal scorer not a puck distributor.

His interview yesterday sounds oddly familiar... 🤔

This one has probably been posted already. Gives marks on his skills:

I am liking the diversity in forward talent we are starting to build.

We have the cerebral two way playmaker in Cole
We have the gritty jack of all trades guy in McGroarty.
We have the speedy Lambert
We have the rugged smart shooter in Barlow
We have a cerbral finisher in Lucious

We are starting to collect players with more dimensions to their games.

Add in some young guys like Vilardi and Kupri, Barron, Ville and Snerg and I like the next wave provided Cole and Gabe and convert to C.

Probably need a couple more impact dmen though. Maybe we get some as part of the next few trades.
Celebrini is gonna be a good addition to that forward core as well. I'd definitely be targeting D prospects in the Helle/Scheif moves

Makes me want a Barlow Jets jersey like right now!
Good thing I held off on getting that Jets Fantilli jersey!

All kidding aside, I’ll probably get a young gun on my next one too. I make the mistake of getting them right before players end up leaving or turn bad (Pavelec, Ladd, Laine, Hellebuyck). Fingers crossed on Scheifele though.

I don't buy at all this Barlow or Perfetti being moved to centre..pretty stupid wishful thinking. All in, the jets forwards as aa group of prospects are impressive, but they need as centre to tie the group together. Especially when we will be dealing with monsters like Bedard in our division. We need a bergeron type, s defensive specialist. danielson would have been a nice add.

I believe one scouting report compared him to Jamie Benn, but from the limited viewings I’ve had, (6-8) I see some similarities in his game to Landeskog and Stone. If he develops into a player along the lines of any of those three, that’s a home run pick!!!!

Looking forward to seeing him take a big jump in production this season and continue to grow as a leader.

Barlow no, Perfetti yes. He is a centre.
