Mittlestadt doesn't have much value. Rantanen is elite but on the final year of his contract so why would Canucks trade 2 of their 3 best forwards for 4 months of a guy

Boeser is also a pending UFA, and will likely price himself out of Colorado.

There's no reason for the Avs to give up the better player in Rantanen and reopen the hole at 2C they finally filled, just because EP is signed to a cheaper deal. They need to bite the bullet and get Rantanen extended, even if the AAV is higher than MacKinnon. They also need to prepare to pay Makar more than both of them, as the cap continues to go up.

Hard no from the Avs imo.

Mitts has been streaky this season (probably doesn’t help his linemates have changed constantly due to injury) but he’s easily the best 2C we’ve had since Kadri. I think his passing is next level and Nuke being back is a blessing for him.

Rantanen is 2nd in the league in points. You don’t trade him away unless you’re absolutely certain he’s not returning. Still plenty of real estate before that’s known.

Yeah unless there is a contract on Rantanen there's no way Nucks touch this. But this trade doesn't make sense for the Avs if Rants was signed. Main piece being EP to play as #2C behind Mack while we trade our best goalscorer and winger. It seems like we're downgrading bad.

Nucks fans what are u expecting Boeser to sign for?

Why would the Avs do this? Rantanen is the better player.

Boeser to Colorado could make sense if Canucks fall off a cliff towards the deadline, but he’d probably be a pure rental considering there’s no way Avs can afford to re sign him to $8M he is commanding and likely will get.

What?

Mittelstadt has no value?

You don’t mention that Boeser is a pending UFA but mention that about Rantanen(the best player in the trade)?
there's a difference between not much and none.

exactly. this trade is essentially mittlesdat for pettersson which hilariously bad

I like Boeser a lot but this is a take it and run deal for Vancouver. They can get out of EP's shitty contract and spend it instead on a player who actually deserves it.

Avs don't touch this one. They just got rid of a diva, don't see them wanting on spend 4x as much on another one

Doesn't make any sense. The only world in which the Avs do this is if Rantanen's contract demands are so exorbitant (i.e. an average way above Pettersson's 11.6 million) that they can't afford him -- but if that's the case then his demands are probably too high for Vancouver, too. Anyways, absolute wouldn't touch this as an Avs fan. Much rather they invest in Rantanen at this point -- and I'm more than comfortable with Mitts as the #2 center right now.

It doesn’t make sense for the Avs to completely swap out their goalies and commit to the season then make a move like this. Too much risk with chemistry in trading Rantanen.

Petterson has more value than Rantanen (expiring contract, plays wing, poor defensively).

Boeser is also expiring but quite frankly is 38 times the player that Mittelstadt will ever hope to be.

Canucks would only do this if Rantanen comes extended at a fair deal and the Avs take back the OEL buyout hit and retain on Mittelstadt.

sorry you're not able to understand basic concepts like expiring contracts
You are basically saying players on expiring contracts have no value. That’s just ridiculous.

Weird that he couldn’t follow the conversation then. Maybe you're in the same boat? Wouldn’t be the first time you made yourself look foolish
Someone looks foolish but you’d have to get a mirror to see who.
