Rs have to EVENTUALLY move on from Igor due to cap reality.
I see short term 12.2 x 5 gives him what he wants
BUT
he has to capitulate to bern and no NMC, reasonable extensive NTCs

the prob here is not quality of currency in your offer.
Prob is it is not currency Rs should accept.
We want/need quality youth
Rant is no that.

If a good enough add from another team, a 3 way, that is possible

Rs can ensure team taking now can negotiate beforehand, be assured he is extended as agreed, no surprises

first avenue should be LAK who want him BAD
Shesty + retained Zib as core for Byfield

compete with that...
That's a ridiculous offer,, have you had any positive responses from any Kings fans.

I know you have been pushing for Byfield but I don't think you will get that quality of a player for Shesterkin.

I think someone made the thread not long after that report.
Ok. I think it might have been the main Igor thread and Rantanen became a big talking point.

Date wise, I was mainly pointing out that was reported 1 month ago and you said 2. I didnt research any more than that.

I could add to the OP that this is all is reliant on the Rangers not willing to go above 8x$11.

I'd consider Byfield for Shesty at 8X8.
12.5 is too high to leave enough cap to build a contender.

I appreciate the assessment, but Rs best play here is TO EXTEND its window
This means selling quality vets for quality youth which = better roster mgmt/cap flexibility.

If I wanted to go all in, win now, Rantanen is a respectable option to consider
but
in all sports almost always win now is foolish, doesn't work

am open to a high end 3 way

maybe devils want Rant, you take Shesty, we take Nemic + Silayev, something along those lines?
guys with half a year of term don't have that kind of value.

anyone who trades for either of those guys are getting them with the 8 year extension or are locking them up to 7 years asap.
The 12+ mill extension Shesterkin wants does not add significant value to him

Frankly, the whole pending UFA traded "with extension" is something that fanbases say to make themselves feel better about their rental assets, rather than something NHL teams will actually pay out the wazoo for.

F it. The Avs have 3 of the top 7 scorers in the league, arguably the best player at each F and D position, and cant win a game because they give the other team 2-3 free goals to start every other game. Georgiev is a coin flip at best, Annunnen is an AHL goalie, and the only hope we have is 21 yo Russian who could be years away still.

Its dumb AF to give a goalie $11M+, but Shesterkin could easily be the difference putting the Avs on par with the Jets/Stars in the West.

Rantanen likely deserves $11-12.5M as well and I'm sure Rangers fans would love him, but at that price and worth letting Igor go?
Pointless for the rangers

How many times have teams traded for a high end soon to be UFA and not re-signed them? Its one thing to be a trade deadline guy for a playoff run and a different animal to refuse to sign with the team that traded for you. Its kindof something that I assumed is agreed upon between player/agent/gm or else the deal would never happen.

So yes the assumption for both the Avalanche and Rangers would be they lock their guy up for 7-8 years for a number everyone is happy with.

putting the merits of the fair value argument aside, I don’t see how this works for NY.
roughly 3.6 million difference in salary (NY is up against the cap) and the Rangers have more wings than a Superbowl Sunday party.
