Watched some highlights, he’s got a bit of that Nike power game to him. Having a bunch of Finns and Nuke to model his game after may be a blessing for Parsnips and the Avs
He seems to skate well and goes hard to the net, which will make Bednar happy.

Hope the Avs found a gem and if not, hey, he likely helps the AHL squad a lot.

Wonder if there's a side deal to send Colton to Nashville in the off-season.

Parssinen will likely get the opportunity to take the 3C job and is an RFA this summer. If he does make the 3C spot his own and gets a notable raise from $775k it would be difficult to squeeze his caphit in next year without moving someone else.

If/when Parssinen can take the 3C job at a cheaper caphit than Colton then Colton would clearly be expendable. And last summer when Colton was rumoured to be available it was Nashville that was mentioned as a suitor.

That's pure speculation but it might explain why Trotz has sold cheap here on a young 3C to a division rival when he surely could've gotten the same (or better) deal from a team outside the division.

You are all so optimistic.

Realistically he looks great for two weeks before Bednar coaches the physicality and defense out of him. Then his minutes dwindle until he's getting six minutes on the fourth line. By game four of the first round MacK is gassed after being triple shifted. And the Avs are out in six against the Wild.

The Avs are always looking for good third liners. But good third liners generally play with physicality and hound the puck and are aggressive at winning board battles.

Which is exactly what Bednar does not want his guys doing in the defensive zone.

Oh I think it's quite a bit early to be thinking he's vying for the 3C role.

Bednar loves the Kiviranta - Kelly - O'Connor line.

IMO Parssinen starts and likely stays on the 4th line for quite some time.

Woah I like this a lot!

How is his skating/speed?
This is what I wrote about him prior to the draft. Had him ranked 75th on my list - back when I used to do those kinds of things :

#75. JUUSO PARSSINEN, C/LW
POTENTIAL: Upside: 3rd Line Two-Way Center
FLOOR: 4th Line Depth
Team: TPS U20, JR.A, SM-liiga
Center Height: 6’2”
COMPARABLE: Carl Soderberg Weight: 188lbs

SCOUTING REPORT: Juuso Parssinen is an intriguing prospect because I’ve seen him play both wing and center and he is much better as a center. The difference is significant. He’s a smart player with very good anticipation and strong offensive and defensive awareness. He’s a strong playmaker as he makes great feeds to his linemates. He’s a good skater when at top speed but I noticed that he’s a bit slower while skating with the puck. If he can improve his quickness, he could be a late-round steal as I really like his upside as a 3rd or 4th line center.

COMPARABLE: I feel that Parssinen compares well to a player like Carl Soderberg who plays a strong two-way game while contributing on offense even though he’s not the best skater he makes up for it with smarts.

Carl Soderberg is a good comparison for sure. That is probably Parssinens peak potential, which is not bad at all!

I also agree that he is much better at center. In Nashville they did misuse him by playing him a lot on the wing and moving him from one line to another and then to the bench, a lot!

Physically talented player, hot and cold. Has skill.

I’ve seen him do some dumb shit out there that makes me question the hockey IQ and he’s definitely not regularly engaged.

When he’s hot, he’s a tough player to handle.

When he’s cold, he’s frustrating and invisible out there.
