Seems like a solid energy guy and depth option, 12-14th forward type. Not surprised he was claimed.

He's nothing special, but he's 10x times the player Patrick Brown or Nate Thompson are, so this is still idiotic by the Flyers.

Has some talent, just needs to be a bit more disciplined, but that hasn't been a major problem so far this year.

Anyone with a scouting report?
Seems like an alright 13th grinder from what I can gather

So is this the kickoff of an Avs rebuild?
either that or picking up a passable bottom line player/nacho eater for free when we've been putting AHLers there all year (LOC the only one who has actually played well for more than I game, but at this point I think he's established himself as a fourth liner with an argument for being a 3rd liner)

he's always shown up on the top forecheckers in the league, as he is one of the best puck recovery forwards in the league.
his transition isnt great and he should let any other player on his line carry the puck out of the zone and through the neutral zone.

if you need help beneath the hashmarks in the offensive zone. This is the guy.

Bednar's entire gameplan revolves around superb forechequing forwards, so it makes sense why Avs claimed this lad.

He probably has some untapped offensive potential still. Flyers of all teams in the league absolutely make it a priority to fill their fourth line with complete trash, then blame the young player for not producing in 10 minutes a game (when they're not scratched) with a bunch of ECHL level talent.

Won't be hard for him to earn a permanent spot on our 4th line, considering his competition are 2 career AHLers.

Lol Canucks

god I hate Benning, how could he not claim this guy

He's a low event forward in a somewhat sheltered role
he is the prototypical player on waivers.

Waivers are not going to fix what ails your team
weren't you guys angry when Philly claimed Mackewan or whatever his name is, he hasn't done much
none of these guys move the needle

From the outside looking in I can see your point, but fans aren’t made at these moves or lack there of individually, fans are pissed at the totality of the circumstances which includes constantly losing assets for nothing.

SCOUTING REPORT: Nicolas Aube-Kubel
Displays good offensive instincts on the forecheck. Can be a solid playmaker when he is at his best. Also displays some two-way acumen. Lacks game-to-game consistency and needs to improve his intensity in order to produce good point totals in the NHL. Does not own ideal size.

Long Range Potential: Talented, diminutive winger with upside.

MacEwen had the game winning goal last night against Carolina.

It was rumored that they were interested in him, but my guess is that Seattle offered him a lot more than the Avs ever could because of the cap.
gotcha. since he went to college there, iirc, it seemed like a natural fit. not a fan of the contract seattle gave him, especially the term.

who knows, maybe it works out for him

Sakic actually thinking he is better than the genius of Chuck Fletcher (#sarcasm). Playing with Nate Thompson, there was no chance of success for NAK this year. With better linemates, he has a shot.

Avs fan there will be dumb penalties so be fore warned.

Between NAK, Thompson and Mackewan, they each have 1 point on the season
for the odd point that they contribute, they play their 12 or 13 shifts a night a play 9 minutes and are hoping not to be a minus

Thompson probably should have been the guy considering his age
but like I said, most of these guys are low event players

I like it.Young guy who's shown to be a hard forechecker and bit of an agitator. Worth a shot.

Plus it gets at least one some of AHL riff raff off the roster in Megna or Sherwood.
