I'd be surprised if they didn't at least have conversations about it internally and probably with other teams. Doesn't mean they might not just keep him and hope he decides to sign or they win a Cup but this team seeks out all opportunities. If they happen to find another team out there that has a player they covet that's signed longer term than Necas was or Rantanen is and they think fits well, I could absolutely see them doing that. I'm not putting it in the likely to happen category but it wouldn't shock me.

If we end up trading him because he doesn't want to sign here it will be a big blow. Not many other FAs this offseason and I doubt Toronto lets Marner go.
