stExcept the $20 landed at the feet of the guy who bullies you and who has already accomplished more in life than you and has a bigger bank account than you and now he's off to the liquor store to buy a lotto ticket.
I’m extremely unthreatened by what Colorado has done in the time that my team has existed, and don’t consider them to be our “bully” at all.

Or you and someone else are fighting over the $20 and it pops to your rival who was just like “cool, I don’t really need it but sweet”

I was hoping he would sign with Detroit based on what I read but I kind of expected him to sign with Minnesota. Good for Colorado for signing him. It is always nice to get a free asset.

As for the fans being upset and taking shots at teams come on really? It is okay to be disappointed but do you really need to sink to a douchebag level over this?
Thats kind of the flavor of this website unfortunately, Maturity level isnt the highest compared to other sports forums

Interesting. I always considered Avs/Wild each others main rivals for the past decade or so. Didn't even consider Chicago or the Blues.

I'm probably in the minority here. I think much of our fanbase would think as you do. I just haven't gotten there yet.

I just don't really think that Colorado can be our "bully" when we had our fair share of success against them, and they haven't quite gotten to where we want to go. It's definitely not like Chicago swatting us down from the top of the mountain. Maybe that's the next 5 years though.

Meyers certainly helps with the cap situation for next year. Doesn't really do much beyond that though and we're still screwed when the Mack contract kicks in, but it will at least give us another good shot at a deep run next year before regression hits.
good teams find ways to work around it while they are in the contending years. I wouldn't really worry about...look at what tampa has done. jealous of ur team and what they can do for the next 5+ years

Colorado has had success with college free agents in recent memory (Kerfoot and O'Connor), so hopefully they can help Meyer develop into a solid NHLer.

The Avalanche are really hurting for bottom-6 depth next season, so this move is a pleasant surprise from a fan perspective.

i think that's because the teams seemed to legitimately hate each other the whole time no matter the power or skill discrepancy. if it wasn't a bully situation it was at least as juicy for me as anything else going on in the league.

Good to see all that education didn't go to waste. Kid gets to play for Championships day 1.

Can anyone that watched this guy play explain what is superior to Tyson Jost who is the same age size and was just as if not more prolific in college given ages of 18 vs 21/22?

Yeah, calling any team a "bully" to another is weird, doesn't exactly happen very often to just one team as typically if a team is at "bully" level, they bully the entire league because they're that good.

Minnesota/Avs games are usually always spicy and have a pretty lengthy playoff history.

Main difference is Tampa was the best drafting team in the league for the last ~10 years pretty much.

Its much easier to find ways to make it work, when you have a constant inflow of quality elc players that can fill important roles for you.

The Avs.... Are not a good drafting team at all. It will be significantly harder for us to make it work. Personally I don't buy it all. We're good now and will be next year as well, after that I bet we slip back quite a bit over the next few years.

Should have gone to a real team - an original 6 team.

And if he wasn't going to go for a franchise with history then go with a team you can grow with. Arizona, Anaheim, Montreal, Detroit. Buffalo would be good but they have 2 centres already.
Like most Detroit fans, he’d prefer to live in Denver.

Myers is like the $20 bill that you see on the sidewalk, so you start walking over to pick it up, but then a strong breeze comes through and blows it out onto the road, so you shrug your shoulders and move on with your day.

Then you hear a voice shout out from behind you "Hey cool! a $20 bill!", It's your arch nemesis Joe. You clench your fist and slam your door as you get in your car. "**** this ****** i'm not going to work today."

Where do you go instead? Straight home to post online about how much you hate Joe.

Joe was also driving down that road when the 20$ bill luckily flew into his brand new Tesla Model S Plaid.
