Coach's Challenge

Not sure why Toronto cannot quickly review all goals. There is time between a goal and the next faceoff in most cases. Last night they could have either upheld or overturned the waiving off of Pasta's goal fairly quickly and sent word to the on-ice refs. I agree allowing the on-ice refs to review situations such as last night's no goal is unwise, especially given the incompetence of refs. As for challenging icing...get rid of it completely or have some mechanism where Toronto can review in the background all zone entries following a goal being scored. If it's immediately obvious it was offside then contact the refs to overturn it. If it is not clear then say nothing and allow the game to move on. Coach's challenges under the current system suck. They disrupt flow and it bites if the refs are making multiple on-ice and replay calls.

There's an easy way to fix that and that's change the rule so that the foot doesn't have to be on the ice. I think they might be doing that for next year, or they should at least.

I don't believe that would solve anything, just moving the goalposts back. Actually, since offsides becomes even more ill-defined, I think there will be more reviews.

There should be NO COACHES challenges. A stupid idea from the NFL. Reviews by Toronto, offsides stays the same. But limit challenges to goals that happen up to 5 seconds after the puck enters zone. Otherwise, there is no disadvantage by the defense after that and you're just taking good goals off the board.

Goalie interference, same thing, by Toronto only. And Toronto makes the call. Sometimes they get it wrong, just like on high sticks and if a puck is in or not, and we all live with it.

I'm all for it too, but I don't see it going anywhere.

I do think the NFL gets it right in regards to all TD's being automatically reviewed. All goals should be. It would prevent the stupid ticky tack crap from the coaches challenge, but prevent the obvious missed calls like last night.

I don't think the NFL is the league to emulate. Their attempt to GET IT WRONG has ruined the game by actually changing the way it is played and ruining excitement for the fans.

In most cases the NFL sucks, but automatically reviewing scores is good.

I've seen a lot of times where there is a review for offside called for by the video people and not from the coach.

Are there clear parameters for when that is to happen?

Last minute of the 3rd and anytime in OT.
