Coaching is a serious problem.

I'm curious to see what people who actually understand hockey, and have time to zoom in on plays think. I think it looks easy to play against Montreal this year, it screams the eyes. More than last year What is it exactly ? When you look at bottom teams, it's players falling on the ice, fumbling pucks, etc. That's us.
Only 1 natural right D isn't helping. Have two playing on their weakside. Guhle be a #1 if he played 40 consecutive games on left side. Matheson and Barron have both regressed.

Defense they are out of position. Don't stay between their guy and the net. They chase the cycle. Turn the puck over, look hesitant. Just basic stuff. Leading to so many blowouts

The lack of depth on rd is a good point. MSL looks depressed after every loss.

Not sure of the argument you’re trying to make. You bring up organizations that have been dysfunctional for a decade. What is this supposed to prove?

Utah looks good. Heck San Jose, which you bring up, clearly look better. The Devils look great.

The Habs have the worst goal differential in the league. This is normal to you? You think they look well coached?
I agree what is the use of using other organizations as an example or a measuring stick of what is and what isn't concerning our team.
Where were we-where are we-and where can we get to with our current assets including staff?

We've already missed the boat when it comes to hoping to play important games heading into TDL.
The coaching/roster build was not nearly good enough for the important games we've already lost.

I mean it's easy to see why fans are upset with the current product.
What I can't believe is the ability some have at finding excuses.
I can't remember an entire season when we've been blown out of so many games and we are only heading into game 30.

Yeah last year they were competitive, even if they lost often. I never felt they were truly out of many games. That goes hand-in-hand with being 20th in 5v5 goal differential. It was actually fun to watch as a fan.

This season is difficult to sit through.

I agree. I can’t remember seeing a habs team being so putrid in their own end and I first started watching in the early 70s. Since then I have seen some bad teams but this is one of the worst.

And now it’s gone right back down.
Dude’s pacing for 50 goals…

Not even close to as bad as we were.

And we all expected us to be bad in our own end. That’s not a surprise at all.

Call me crazy but i exepcted to see some improvement when Gorton said that we need to be better in our own end in his end of the season presser.
I expected an 85 point team. But a big part of that came from my belief that we’d have a healthy Kirby Dach. I consistently said that he was the key to our season. And unfortunately he has been - but in the worst way possible.

The top line looks good. The bottom six look good. The D has (expectedly) been bad and the 2nd line has really sucked. And that’s been a huge killer. Other problems exist, our backup goalie also can’t stop a beach ball for example.

Again, even with a healthy Dach I thought we’d be out of the playoffs. With him sucking though? It’s a huge loss. Not only are we not getting the additional production we expected, he’s also hurt us in a lot of games and has killed his linemates.

The two main areas I thought we’d improve would be Huston (particularly on the pp) and extra offense from a real 2nd line. Part of it has materialized but we still need something to change with the 2nd. If we don’t, I don’t see us getting much better. Nick and CC will continue to produce but we need secondary guys to score. Newhook isn’t good enough to carry the line and as good as Laine been on the PP, he still looks pretty rusty himself.

All cool but i was referring to your comment saying

I don’t know why it quoted you regarding CC I did not intend to reply, that’s why I deleted it after I posted. Please ignore it.

Ill disagree on how bad their are in the own end. This is one of the poorest defensive habs teams I have seen. They have taken a huge step backwards from last year. Also, one of the worst coached as well. I like a lot of Hugo has done but the shine is gone, as some of his decisions have not been good.

Gorton is correct we do need to be better in our own end, the fact we aren't doesn't make that any less true.

What shouldn't be surprising is that the D got younger, lost some depth and experience, and that it has naturally struggled.

I truly believe management had big plans for Reinbacher this season and his injury hasn't helped. Especially at RD.
