4 goals 1 ass in 10 games reg season
4 goals 8 ass in 20 games playoffs
under Ducharme as a rookie

Had a rough start just like the team did the following season wich is to be expected for a rookie than caught covid......him being good was always to be expected after the start he had with us.

But hey feel free to think it was all beceause of MSL.
He had ONE goal in half a season under Mumbles. Just like tons of prospects that we ruined under that regime, CC was well on this way as well.
Did you really expect abything else
I don't expect players to go out of there way to talk about their coach.

Dach had been misused in Chicago and things didn't go well there. He came to Montreal and MSL gave him the opportunities. He made the most of it before getting hurt.
Than again proving my point.
Apart from the 2nd line, we've been good. When players on the 2nd line have moved to the first, they've improved... that's a roster issue sir.

What do you think Hughes and MSL should do with Dach? He clearly is a liability and it can't continue. His confidence is shot with each passing game.

CC is a scorer always was always will be no credit to be given to the coach imo.

Dach had a good 1st season with us wouldn't say it was beceause MSL helped him he was a 3rd overall pick being traded he had something to prove.

As for Newhook you're ready to say MSL helped him but wont say that his regression could be MSL's fault...... ( not that i think it's MSL's fault either cuz i think it's hopeless in his case....what we see is what we get)......and the bolded is exacly what i was saying.

Agree

Nope
One can only evaluate “regression” once a season has ended not sure how anyone on this roster can be deemed to have regressed until end of the season stats are available

Give him a couple of games in the press box to reset himself, then insert him back in the 2C role and stay the course. This is likely as much psychological as it is physical…

I... don't know.

As I've said already, I don't want to give up on him but by the same token, we can't depend on him. I'd probably start looking at other centers who are available. We can always keep Dach and hope he returns to form. If he does, we suddenly have some really good depth there. If not, at least we have the other guy.

We really do need another center. I'm just not sure they want to do it now or just wait until next year. By waiting we'll probably finish higher in the standings which wouldn't be a bad thing.

I think it comes down to who's available and how much do they want? If they can find the right guy now, I think they'll make a move. If they don't, then I don't think they'll jump on something for the sake of it. A solid 2nd line center would do so much for us. It'd help Newhook and Laine, give some support to the first line... we really need it.

What do you think about that

4 goals 1 ass in 10 games reg season
4 goals 8 ass in 20 games playoffs

for a guy coming out of college at the end of the year, looks pretty good to me, was it under MSL or Mumble like you like to say......by the way i prefer the mumbles Ducharme use to do to all the empty philosophic quote MSL can do

I think they misused him in the playoffs. It took them forever just to put him in the lineup.

And the following year they limited his ice and didn’t play him with the right players. It was the same thing we saw over and over with that regime. Take a talented player. Misuse him. Put him in the bottom six (often out of position) tell everyone he need to ‘earn it’… just hilariously bad with prospects.

The very day MSL came on-boardhe put Nick with CC and he immediately produced. No bullshit. No politics. Just put them together and gave them the opportunity.

Dach has never really proven himself capable at the nhl level, maybe trade him for a similar project on another team? Love the play of Jake Evans though, reminds me of Yanni Gourde

How about...
1 goal 7 ass in 30 games while being 10th in ice time among forwards?
Because that's what DuChump managed to squeeze out of CC. We cannot tell if DuChump was undoubtedly the trigger of CC "regression" but he sure as hell didn't do shit to help CC getting out of his slump by making him his 10th most used forward and burying him in the roster.

MSL come in and....
22 goals 13 ass in 37 games... 2nd most used forward on the team. It's going from 0.27PPG to 0.95PPG overnight basically. A huge chunk of this production probably come from simply being used properly instead of playing less than Laurent f***ing Dauphin.

The problem is, every game is tough for this team because they stink. The Penguins stink and are 3-0 against the Habs this season, outscoring them 18-6. Barely beat the Ducks and they are awful.

They have one convincing win this year against a decent team and it was against the Oilers.
Probably more a stylistic issue than something to draw major conclusions from. Crosby and the Penguins are a veteran team. They know exactly how to make a young team look foolish and they did it effectively last night.

I just don't see any reason why we can't have more assistant coaches, we only have 2. Washington has 5, Florida has 4, Toronto has 3 including an Associate Coach.

Money is no issue, keep bringing in talented leaders and see who makes a difference.

What are Letowski, Robidas, and MSL going to teach a guy like Slafkovsky? Dach? They have no idea what it's like to be a big PWF. That's partly why Anderson sucks so much is because nobody knows how to coach him.
Look, we can’t steal all the coaches from pee wee hockey. Please think about the kids.

I don't think it is as much a coaching issue as a management one. Gorton and Hughes made offseason moves that have hurt the team. Monahan and Kovacevic are the two who hurt the most. Their evaluations of Dach and Barron were wrong, neither is a suitable replacement for the guys who left. Newhook is another failed experiment, a nothing burger of a player who would be okay on a deep team but his weaknesses shine bright on a rebuilding one such as ours.

I am critical of MSL for two things, the complicated defensive system that we didn't need and for not being tough on veteran players by scratching them when they suck. It's only the entry level players who get punished. That won't gain him long term respect from the young guys when most of the dead weight is gone.

I predict Marty will resign from the team for personal reasons without getting fired.
A lot of habs players aren’t able to deal with the role they have to play. It’s lack of talent, not evaluation. I doubt Hughes snd Gorton thought they would be better without Monahan. I’d guess they would have kept Kovacevic if they wanted to win this year, though I doubt they realized he could be so effective.

It’s a product of bad teams. It’s really easy to give up on guys and then watch them play really well on better built teams. A true #1 D makes everyone better. A forward who can force double coverage makes the whole team better.

The habs don’t have crappy rollplayers, they lack high end talent. Demidov will help, but they will need a high end D and probably at least one additional solid player to be competitive.

I agree with you on that, we should have paid a lot of $$ to bring an experience associated coach. It’s not normal then a coach with the lack of experience like MSL is the one with the shortest coaching staff

I don’t agree with you on that though, John Cooper is the best coach in the NHL and he didn’t even played pro hockey. No need need to be an ex power forward to know how to coach them

You aren’t a “bad fan.” You don’t believe in the process of the rebuild is what I take away from your posts and I get that. There’s lots to be sceptical of right now. But I think we should see how this plays out before blasting the managers. They weren’t put in a good position to succeed. We knew Bergevin’s mess was eventually going to have to be cleaned up and it’s not surprising that it’s going to likely take 5+ years to completely rid ourselves of his stench. There’s things to criticize Hugo over, but it’s certainly not doomsday yet.

I didn't see a choice this time. You lose 3 pillars in one summer (danault, price, weber), and the decision is already made for you in terms of what direction you need to go.... except bergevin still doubled down until he was canned a few weeks into the following season.

The other less traveled path would have been to do what the Habs did in 2009, where they cut their entire core and sign a new core but I don't think I've ever seen that plan being done before or since.
