Coaching is a serious problem.

It's one thing if it's a couple of guys, but half the team has mentally checked out, including some of our best players. I'm tired of acting like it's the coaches fault if some of our guys can't play.

If accountability was a thing, Slaf, Hutson and Heineman would all be in the AHL, Savard, Matheson, Dach and Newhook cut or eating hot dogs, Kovacevic would still be on the team and guys from the AHL team that actually give a f (Beck and Davidson) would be up.
Well that’s on the coach if he can’t prepare these guys mentally 20 games into the season. It’s also on the coach to manage the game. It’s not over at 3-0. But again, he just lets them drown and it’s soon 4-0. He’s not smart and to say it’s some type of lesson for the young guys is absolving this guy that has no clue.

For me, Suzuki was a sort of barometer. His play has wavered so much this year it feels there is underlying issues with the team. Then you add no one progressing, lots of culture talk not being backed up, disjointed, lack of effort, almost no intensity.

is it all coaching, likely not, but the hot seat should be heating up. An entire team cant be this bad almost all the time. It just cant without heads rolling

It’s hilarious to me that 1 of the questions asked to Marty was “if these growing pains are to be expected”.

How they heck would Marty know anything about what’s to be expected. Rookie coach who has never been in these situations. It’s a shame we force ourselves to only hire a French coach, because that is the only reason this guy is the head of the rebuild

Try it again. It worked last year.
Worked us to bottom 5 in the league and to a 6th worse PP in the league. At 5v5 together they are pretty good I suppose (55 GF% since the start on 23-24) but this whole unit feels so mediocre as a 1st line. Maybe those three guys aren't the problem but then Kent and MSL need to put their big boy pants on and tell Dach and Matheson to accept a lesser role and if they don't want to get rid of them by all means necessary.

He seems to think because he dug himself out of a hole in his career and made something of himself, that they should all be able to do that.

Crazy for a coach to want his young players to persevere through these growing pains and come out of it for the better at end of the tunnel.

Who does he think he is, using his track record and experiences as food for growth?

Silly Marty.

Who cares if he's done everything that's been asked of him by this organization up until now, just fire him already I'm tired of this guy!

I mean clearly this is a playoff calibre team, depth everywhere, with players in their prime, what more does he need?

It's been 3 years already into this rebuild! How long does he freaking want?

We have expectations damnit!!

Am I doing this right?

It’s not too much to ask for a non Peewee coach. If Gretzky couldn’t make the transition, then we shouldn’t be a shocked a glorified cheerleader shouldn’t either

Ask yourself why that peewee coach was hired by this management team for in the first place, and then tell me if he hasn't delivered thus far on his end of the bargain. Perhaps he's earned atleast the rest of the season before we can be surprised, or shocked, if he can or can't make the transition moving forward. Both he and this team have a lot of potential and room to grow.

The management team's vision for this team is still very much on track, despite the inevitable perfectly natural bumps in the road they knew they'd encounter through a rebuild process and green coach. (Unfortunate injuries also haven't helped)

And they're rightfully not going to alter their plan and are determined to see it through, if things need to shift in the future, they'll make those changes accordingly. Until then they're trusting their blueprint to future success.

It's what they were hired to do.

Knee-jerk panicky fans notwithstanding.

He hasn’t delivered. The team looks worse than last year. Every single defenceman has regressed. No one knows what to do or what’s expected. There is no accountability, veterans keep getting fed icetime and opportunities that they don’t deserve. He has his obvious whipping boys and his pets.

Stop trying to gloss over the fact he can’t coach. The guy keeps timeouts like he’s fined for using them. He has no idea how to manage a game.

He has no potential to grow as a coach. What has he shown you other than his stupid quotes after the game? Nothing has changed. He has zero experience and it shows. The NHL is NOT a development league for head coaches. It never has been. Stop pretending like it’s normal to hire a PeeWee coach and surround him with other inexperienced coaches.

Christ we are the third richest franchise and the most storied one and we hire a guy that was only into coaching to be with his son. It’s something I expected the Coyotes to have done to save money.

I stopped reading after three words..

He's done everything they've asked him to do.

One game ago we were talking about how the team had progressed and was looking a lot better lately...

A team like this is going to get curb stomped sometimes. At this stage you can expect some bad games. Let's see how the next few games go.

He has a point. The team, in the larger scope of things (this season), has not progressed. They may be better in one game vs. another but as a whole it's been a shit show.

We got off to a horrific start. No question about that.

But we seem to have turned a corner about seven or eight games ago. No, we weren't perfect but the defensive play was so much better. Now we just suffered a blowout again. Is this a blip or was the short stint of improved play the blip? We need to play this out and see.

This is not a great team. Even when I was predicting us to be a better club I wasn't penciling us in for the playoffs. We knew there'd be ups and downs. Even if we go .500 the rest of the way we will still have games like this.

We're coming off our best win of the season. Then we shit the bed. That's what .500 teams do. We are consistently inconsistent.

it’s worse than that. Gallagher is playing great. Evans is playing great. Anderson is playing decent. Caufield is among the league leaders in goals. Suzuki is producing. We have a kid challenging for the Calder. There is no three goalie carousel.

These are things we have more than last year. Yet somehow the team looks worse. There is a serious problem and ignoring it doesn’t make it go away.

Those problems are Dach and Matheson, not the coach.
