Coaching is a serious problem.

It's a resilient group no matter how young our roster is. Not sure where they end up but they got to start limiting goals. It's the number 1 problem and it's creating havoc both with player confidence and with the fans/media.

If we fall, we fall. Better pick

If we rise a bit, the core gets some rough skin growth from overcoming the rough start. Only 3-5 pts from a wild card spot
As they say............development is not always linear, but we all expected more early on from the goalies, and honestly the coaching staff from my POV. The way we play in our own end, is brutal, and we are not going to score 7 goals every night......

The coaching staff can't run away from our terrible play in our own end, and this is not all on the young D we have, but the 5 man unit on the ice looks lost on how to stop the other team.

Sure let's break up the duo that actually works.
Caufield needs to pick up his game 5v5 and maybe even start winning some puck battles.
He was -2 today and deserved to be -2 today without blaming his line mates.
If the puck isn't going into the net off Caufield's stick it's just going off his stick.
Lane Hutson plays like beast compared to him both along the wall and in traffic.
I said it last game split Caufield away from Suzuki and Nick would find his game and that is exactly what happened.
I actually find it encouraging that Caufield is finding a way to get in front or around the net to score goals other then just a good shot. As for winning puck battles, he’s small and soft so there’s always going to be a trade off for his offence.

One game????????????????? It's been 2 seasons, and 16 games of horseshit D zone coverage. We are playing the same way, the THIRD season in a row, and you don't want to change it?

Again, PP sucks, you change it...............PK sucks you change it...............The coaching has to react to poor D zone play, and...............................Change it. You work with you have. 16 games into a season, you don't say sorry folks we suck in our own end, let's wait until we draft 4-5 new Dmen. Maybe a Pronger, and Chelios is out there, so let's tank some more....
The system this year was already changed from what it was the previous 2 years. They did exactly what you asked them to do and changed a system that wasn't working, and yes it still isn't working which just highlights that the problem isn't system related and changing it again won't do much.

Seriously on the PP in his office. Where else is he supposed to be?

No one cares
He certainly needs to learn that when your goalie doesn't have it, he doesn't have it.. and he has to make the move to switch goalies in game quicker.
I agree, the move should have come by the third goal. I think that Primeau is what he is at this point. His glove hand is below par based on most NHL goalies and his rebound control isn't great. It's time to move on.

He could just be hanging around the wall looking for a one timer that teams could easily adjust too.
His PP goals are mostly from the side of the net definitely not from net front and that encompasses every thing from the wall in.
I don't care about his power play that isn't what I'm talking about.

His 5v5 play has been atrocious and he's getting a free pass because he's had a hot stick on the PP.
The fact that RDS gave him first star in yesterdays game is an indication of what I'm referring to.

Splitting them is fine.

Splitting them and having Cc with Evans is dumb.
After Suzuki, our best center is Evans. By chance Evans is playing well this year.
This is not normal, that means Dvorak who is supposed ton be our 2c is not doing his job. That also means Dach is not doing his job too and Newhook have to play center.

Habs have a serious problem at center position and there is no more Danault or Monahan. Tic tac tic tac, time is running and when Beck and Hage will come here to play center? Who will be our defensive specialist like Carbo, Pleks and Danault used to do on regular basis? You know, playing a good defensive game is not only winning face-offs.

I think most hockey analists says Primeau is burned at the nhl level. It's time to bring Dobes. Primeau have a very bad percentage, in any way we can interpret the stats. Primeau have to go back in ahl, it will be a better place for him. Maybe he can bounce back but I doubt it.

And Yes, MSL is kinda slow when he should decide to change his goalie.

Not sure they changed anything..............Marty said the players just have to execute it, so.......they were running around trying to play man to man, and it sure looks like they are still running around......
Yes the D is inexperienced, but as a 5 man unit in their end, it's not working.
Dumb it down if you have to...............unless they want another top 5 pick, which they said they did not.

As we know, you can't fire 23 players, but the coaches need to be more accountable, maybe?

A save now and the would be nice too...............goalies are brutal.

Dach was supposed to be 2C not Dvorak.
We have solid candidates for defensive specialist. We can keep Evans or Kapanen, Beck will become one.

Going by how their play of the game mid-game was Tage's goal, I can only believe it was a sarcastic nomination.

That or they really only listened to the play-by-play and since they kept confusing CC with Slaf...

I don't know what to tell you, but they very clearly changed the system between last year and this year. If you can't see that then frankly why should anyone take your opinion on what needs to be done seriously?

When...........you see Hutson or Matheson at the blueline, and CC left to defend around the net, then this seems like a man to man gone wrong...................been going on for 2 seasons plus this year.
They can call it a hybrid of a man to man, but it's still man to man..............that's my point.

Change it to a zone, or something that works, because now that the expectations have grown, as per themselves, you have to change what does not work. They as a team want to win, and play in more meaningful games past Nov/Dec
This is on the coaches.......and right now they are the most accountable.........the players don't seem to understand.

Too much of a players coach. Some vets need to sit a game or two as a wake-up. Funny how Armia had to face it, then came back on fire last year, but he's so slow to sit others (if your name is not Xhekaj).

Maybe I am crazy, but I find team defense has been much better since the Calgary game despite the W-L and GA column.

The goaltending has been brutal during this stretch.

They've been less worst i would say, goaltending hasn't been stellar but most of the goals have been a results of poor plays in our own end.

Crete was messed up for sure.
He also called Caufield Suzuki once even though they were on different lines and look nothing like each other on skates.

Just cause Habs won for the first time in 7 games, lets not pretend that things have magically improved. I saw D just as confused as ever with the usual suspects leading the charge.

If Habs manage to string 4-5 wins together then we can re-assess whether defensive play has actually improved.

I saw a team refusing to quit yesterday, somewhat reminiscent of what we saw last year. Defensively there were still gaffs all over the place and Primeau was beer league bad.

They've played better in the last three games. Nothing magic about it.

That 2nd line yesterday was terrible though.
