Coaches Oleg Znarok & Rikard Gronborg Suspended for Gold and Bronze Medal Games

He entered for the celebration and I don't care so much for that. But he was not allowed to be in contact with the team, he could only attend the game. Instead he had "secret microphones" in some spyfiction manner. Really doesn't help the stereotypes.

The ban was absolute disgrace. This european political correctness is artificial invention. And it was only tolerated because Tretyak is too weak as a person.
Never heard Esposito received a ban for same things. And for good.

There is difference between behaving like an adult, showing good sportsmanship and political correctness.

And the organization regulating too much. Next move is to regulate how much each coach must breath on the bench. Let's turn hockey into ballet this way.

Here's a repost, don't know much more than that: "Znarok admitted it before the game already, iltasanomat asked about it from the IIHF and they said there's a loophole in the rules and they can do nothing about it."

Why wouldnt he just had a headset then instead of some kgb microphone? (the a-coach had one in hes wrist)

The game was really great hockey to the point when penalties started to come out of blue. And instances like Malkin trying to decapitate Haula where left unwhisteled, but finns where given penalty for example when small contact had been made and the russian dived to the ice after 4 secs of the contact.

but congratz to Bobrovski for the gold and hes effort in the tourney!

I have only one question: why didn't you score when chances were given? You had how many, six PPs to score? We have a good phrasing about it: one can't see a log in his own eyes.

How does that have anything to do with what i just said? If we would have scored on every PP it wouldnt have changed the fact that this game looked like a farce.

Ok, another question. What's team Russia's fault? No fault?
So, we can mention hundreds of "if that was different we could". We never know what could be different and what couldn't. The reality is this one. Live with it.

Profesional sports cant work that way. We see that something doesnt work and we should just "live with it". I didnt blame the russian players except for diving, but that is also something the refs should notice.
Good and fair game is a good game, but this was not one of those. Its not about the outcome of the game but rather what led to that outcome. I really dont have anything else to say.

Reality comes with reference to the past (hence the suspension of Znarok, among other things).

Gronborg is a snake in the grass. Znarok might be crude, but he's up front about it.

The cut throat gesture was a disgrace. Znaroks is a public person and has some responsibility on his shoulders. There are millions of people watching hockey , even kids, so if that's the kind of attitude you want to teach them, then i don't know how to comment.
And this is not 1972, if you haven't noticed.

So just to get away from crap many Russian haters are talking I will just say that pretty funny that both teams that had their coaches suspended won their medal games :)

According to Kalervo Kummola, Znaroks' suspension could be extended and he and/or Russian federation could be fined as well.

Well, at least we have something to argue over a long, hot summer...

and for the record, I think further sanctions would be appropriate.

In that case Team Russia must refuse to participate in the next WHC. I'm really tired of hearing about these sanctions. Those who impose them must pay for their actions.

You'll be missed but everyone will be glad to see you back the year after .

Unfortunately it won't happen as Tretyak is really very weak as a boss of Federation. I really hope he will be replaced as soon as possible as he needs to rest and play with his grandkids instead of rule the Federation.

Just let the suspension carry over to the first game of next year's tournament instead, sounds logical to me. If he doesn't obey then(which would be extremely unlikely) you drop the bomb and suspend him for the entire tournament.

So he can just 'skip' his suspension for one game because it's an important one? In my opinion if it is found that he has broken the conditions of the suspension, there should be a harsher punishment as a consequence - at least 2-3 games.

But... guys, you really think that Znarok was the first coach to phone/talk with microphones when he is banned? :amazed::amazed::amazed:

I think he's the first to be so upfront and brazen about it. Had he just watched the game from a private place and secretly passed the instructions, nobody would know. Instead he declared his intentions and brought a radio transceiver to the arena itself. Usually the IIHF doesn't have evidence, now everyone who watched the game does.
