Good thing the expansion draft doesn't happen until the end of the season, there's a high probability that the AHL won't be playing. They don't have national TV contracts, so they can't make money without a live audience.
Yeah, I meant next season. I'm a Wings fan so the season's been long over, lol.Seattle doesn't start until next year in the NHL. Expansion draft/entry draft is some time next summer Their AHL team is unknown when it'll start.

They are scheduled to start in 2021 assuming that the AHL resumes playing. (That's what the expansion agreement states....)
Phoenix and Vegas may be marginally hotter. The technology to keep NHL-quality ice solid in winter climates associated with the southwest does exist, although the quality isn’t on par with what you’ll find in, say, Winnipeg. But it passes. Is there an NHL or AHL team in any place as hot or hotter than Palm Springs? I'm just curious. I'm not actually one of those who likes to pretend that ice can't be produced at an indoor rink in a warm climate.

Any difference is negligible, and the point of my post is that technology exists to make hockey ops possible. Keep in mind, we’re not talking peak summer temps, but October to mid-Spring.Based on what I've looked at, I think Palm Springs may have both Vegas and Phoenix beat in terms of temperatures. It is a very hot place, for those who've never been.
When there are expansion teams(like Seattle 2021),the new team should be able to run an independent AHL for 2 seasons prior just to build up the prospect pool. This would help out the NHL team down the road when Vets retire and the team has a replacement instead of some gaping hole in the line up. Its not like the ol' days when players(1st rounder especially) were drafted at 20 and were readyhere's the thread for Palm Springs
Independents haven't been allowed in the AHL in almost 3 decades.....that's not Seattle's model, nor was it Vegas's model when they joinedWhen there are expansion teams(like Seattle 2021),the new team should be able to run an independent AHL for 2 seasons prior just to build up the prospect pool. When are going to get and update on ahl affiliate?.If not Palm Springs then where?.
I have to say though, putting an AHL team so close to another NHL market seems weird,
Oh I get why.Has nothing to do with the NHL has to do with near by AHL teams in the same division.
Why does it seem weird, I mean the Devils are just as close to the Isles and Rangers.I have to say though, putting an AHL team so close to another NHL market seems weird,
