Both impending UFAs, both give it all every shift and don’t shy away from playing physical. These two would strengthen the depth of a team looking to add to their bottom six.

Clutterbuck: 3.5M cap hit, 40 playoff games the last two seasons, PKs.

Parise: 750K cap hit, clutch performer, plays on the PP.

NYI can retain.

I’ve never seen a player play as hard and as well as Parise and have such little results on the scoresheet. The guy doesn’t take a shift off and competes. Doesn’t make mistakes either. I know the goal should be to get younger but at the veteran minimum I’d take Parise back in a heart beat

I think a 3rd is a reasonable ask for each guy. Maybe a 2nd with retention on Clutter. Both players should be moved by the deadline given the Isles are (and mostly likely will be) out of the playoffs.

I think literally any team going into the playoffs should be wanting these two guys. I'd love to figure out some sort of deal where we could trade two of our bottom line guys and a couple of picks for those two, but I don't think its in the cards.

They’re both movable pieces for the bottom 6. I’d however rather see Panik and the kids come up over taking someone’s roster dump in return.

Did you see Kurz article in the Athletic? Some executives around the league were describing Parise's game and I was floored at some of the analysis. hopefully teams have good pro scouts

I didn’t see it? Sounds like you’re saying they’re just stat watching?

To be honest I think adding both Clutterbuck and Parise would be huge additions for any playoff team.

Obviously the Rangers and Islanders would never make a trade like this but for the NYR, sending picks and McKegg and Morgan Barron the other way would be a great idea for the Rangers.

Something like -

To NYR:
Parise
Clutterbuck

To NYI:
McKegg
Barron
2022 2nd round pick
2022 4th round pick

When he was nearing his end in Minnesota, Parise was slow as molasses. The only real value he had was on the PP, but 5x5 he hurt the team.

It’s the opposite here in NY. Lol he hasn’t helped the PP but 5x5 he’s fast and tenacious. Guy goes all out every shift and pressures the puck carrier defensively. Offensive he gets chances. His stats honestly don’t reflect how good he’s been. The islanders overall haven’t been good so it’s not saying much but there’s a legit argument that Parise has been our most consistent player all year.

Maybe because we see Chara playing every night it makes Parise look like he’s Flying out there lol

I’ve heard other Wild fans describe his play similarly. But it’s strange and I don’t know what to tell all of you… but he has looked fine here.

I wouldn’t say fast or speedy, but shows a high motor and is constantly working.

I made the comparison that he reminds me of former third line hard worker… Claude LaPointe from way back.
