Clemmensen out for 3 weeks

bryz, thomas, or maybe theo would be good, but what i'd really like is a young talented goalie with talent to challenge markie and help solidify our goal tending situation for years.

yeah, and who would you want to trade for that? bjugstad?

as far as trades, that's up to tallon if it helps the club long term. question, do you think there will be any promising goalies on the waiver wire, or who could be gotten for a low pick?

If the Panthers are committed to sticking with their plan, they shouldn't trade for anyone. Sign one of the vets sitting on the street for training camp just as insurance for Clemmensen. If Clem isn't healthy to start, best goalie makes the team as the backup. If Clem is healthy, you release the vet goalie from his PTO and everything is back to plan.

I'm hearing former #Bruin Tim Thomas will likely sign with either #FloridaPanthers or #CalgaryFlames tomorrow.

Some Boston sports guy, can't say how reliable this is since I don't know who are Bruins usual "insiders".

I'd take Thomas the couch potato over the guy that breaks his legs tying his shoes in the morning any day of the week.

If that's true, I wouldn't be surprised if he picked Calgary since he'd have more chances to start there.
As far as competition goes, IMO Rämö would give him a rougher time.

You have to look at the fact that he managed to stay in the same team for 4 full seasons (and I bet Avangard would have loved to keep him if he wasn't hungry to make an NHL comeback, he was a fan favourite there) in the KHL. That's a pretty impressive feat in a league where players (and coaches for that matter) get sacked at the first sign of failure. You have to be a pretty special goalie to manage that feat.

Plus I'm pretty sure that Calgary wouldn't have gone through all that trouble convincing Rämö to sign (IIRC he said after his RFA rights were traded to Montreal, that he isn't coming across the Atlantic if he isn't given a proper chance to take a number 1 spot, which ultimately led to his rights being traded again since that wasn't going to happen in Montreal), only to stab him in the back by signing Thomas.

Jeez, I think Thomas is an idiot, too, but people are acting like he's Charles Manson. I doubt he's going to avoid playing somewhere just because it's not Alabama.
