It would be the most Bruins thing ever to try and bury the lede by announcing Claude's firing during a Presidential Inaguration.

So I expect it to be official the second Trump takes the stage.

The same way they waited for the Aaron Hernandez verdict to announce that Chiarelli was fired.

Claude is no doubt a top 5 coach in the NHL. If we fire him now we will be downgrading in that category, i realize this team needs a shake up a la pittsburgh last year. However why fire an excellent coach, instead they should clean house at the management level and keep claude in place and maybe give him more of a mike babcock type responsibility where he has say what players are up and down etc.. We can fire our GM and upgrade.

You don't want to fire Julien instead promote him to take on GM responsibilities too? Jeez, I think we found the ultimate Claude fan.

The Bruins have never been known for their public relations skills :(

That is incredibly frustrating.

We all know that it's hard to make a trade. It's relatively simple to hire a PR group to make you appear like you have a small ****ing iota of a clue what you're doing with the fans. Even if you don't.

Considering the Front Page of the Globe today was about Jacobs Goons beating up Homeless people perhaps today is a good day to distract people.

My forehead is killing me right now :banghead: :headache:

There is no reason why a skilled player shouldn't be able to play all three zones effectively. It's a matter of effort not talent. To hear you talk a skilled player can't do both, it is a physical/mental impossibility. :shakehead

Look at David Pastrnak. Kid is full of skill but he still works his butt off in all 3 zones and is quite effective doing so. :hockey:

Sorry, but I disagree that every player on the roster needs to be a disciplined 3 zone player. Other teams are able to incorporate a mix of guys, yet here it's all about 3 zones. Maybe that's part of the problem, no? After 2 and a half years of languishing in no mans land, maybe it's time to change things up a bit, no?

I know it's too much to expect our managment to recognize this is blowing up and a distraction to a team in turmoil right now so we should be decisive and come out on top of this, whichever direction we choose.

If he's to be fired within the season, it certainly doesn't need to be done soon. I think this season is beyond salvageable. The only benefit of getting a new coach in right away is to get a few games with the Bruins under his belt this season before making a genuine try next season...and that only works if you've got a guy in ind that you're sticking with for more than year. I think Cassidy would be the most likely in-house Interim Coach candidate, but I'm not convinced he's the long term solution yet. Giving Cassidy a few extra games this year doesn't do much, so you may as well keep Claude.

Heck, keep him as long as possible to screw up other teams. Would the Isles jump at him? Maybe. Would the Habs? The fanbase loathes Therrien, and Claude's a Francophone, but not while they're on top of the standings. No reason to wrap Claude up with a bow and hand him to another team now.

I'm a little surprised there's been no announcement yet, but that makes me think he's going to hang around for a bit....but I've been wrong before...

As I asked in a reply to Dom, what does firing Neely do for us right now? I'm certainly not against that, but there needs to be other changes.

we have a bottom 5 gm in the league and a top 5 coach in the league.

which one should we get rid of

How is Sweeney a bottom 5 GM? He hasn't been in the role long enough to warrant that kind of rating.

In any kind of fair world, the book should still be out on him and his rating should be an incomplete.

Lonnie, I think you may have finally found an argument for replacing the coach I can agree with you on.

I'm not sure why "right now" is really a priority.

It's clear this team isn't a contender. The next major issue they face is a glut of prospects to go with some key players who aren't getting any younger. At some point they are going to need to make multiple major moves to cash in some of those chips so players align. Those moves will likely be the deciding factors in whether this team can compete for a Cup in the next 5 years. Are you comfortable with Neely presiding over those moves? Do you think he has the acumen to do that?

I, for one, definitely do not.

They cancelled practice today mainly to avoid the media.

Looking at the schedule they may have decided to ride it out until the All Star break next weekend.

Absolutely pathetic. This would never go over in New York. Why are they running and hiding? Why would they not be forced to practice today? Late night? Wanted them to spend some time with the kiddies? This team is soft. No wonder they continually choke and fall apart. Face the ****ing music. As I fan I want to hear someone mad, or someone to explain what the **** is happening with this craptastic bunch right now.

Neely needs to be renamed Chief Handshaker and Baby Kisser and get someone else, with experience, in the role.
