It's funny. I see him as this very old man still playing a young mans game and yet he's younger than I am still having children ffs.
A horrible part of getting old is realising your current sports hero's are f***ing kids...

It also ruined my gettimg signed in the NHL fantasy as I am now more of a coaching age....

Good game last night.

I know he is going to fade, but I think we need to keep remembering what a unit this guy is.

We are so fortunate that he came home to play here. So much skill and veteran savvy, plus enough intensity for him and Bobby Ryan.

This was his best game so far this year IMO. The only one on the team who was calm enough under pressure, and knew what to do to slow the game down when it needed it the most.

With Giroux, I get the sense that he's not going to bust it out 110% for a team that isn't showing signs of going anywhere.

He turned it off halfway through last season when the writing was on the wall, and he's only really getting going now that there are signs that this team can be competitive.

I really think he paces himself a bit knowing that he only has so much mileage left.

His play making abilities really stood out for me in the game last night. He is so patient with the puck and will wait until a pass opens up and that turns into a great scoring chance.

Agreed, hopefully it goes well this year and he has enough left/is willing to resign for another year or two at a reasonable hit.

1.22 points per game this morning for the father (25th in the league)
Could see him extend for 1-2 more years here after this one if he continue to have success and enjoy

For all those people who think Giroux will not resign for less than %million next year:
He has 2 assists in his last ten games.
This better bring his aav down significantly, like $3 million. Idgaf how much of a beast he is on the dot, he isn't performing as needed considering how much ice time he gets out of all our forwards (2nd most).

His performance this year is not an anomaly. His production was way down in the final 30 games of last year as well.

Are we even signing him if things don't turn around? I'd be shopping him for a pick before he completely craters.

I'd keep him at $3 million aav max. He's currently pacing for 56 points while having a shit ton of ice time.

Assuming he declines, $3 million aav is the price I'd want him back at.

He seems to make nice plays all over. He should have more points, but we are struggling to score in general lately.

He must be extremely frustrated.

I wonder if they could pull a Plekanec with him. Trade him for some picks, and then have him come back July 1st. Of course, he would have to be on board.

Even getting a 2nd for him would help a lot, but a 1st would be huge given we may give up our pick this year.

That would be masterclass asset management. He goes to a contender at the deadline, wins a ring, comes back in the off season, and we get a couple of picks to help out at the draft.
