Police triage reported crimes based on severity and staffing. Could be they were flooded with more urgent issues at the time and estimated that 10:00 was the time things would settle down to get to a nonviolent crime. Or that there were so many thefts already reported that morning, all the officers that handle vehicle theft cases were already backlogged til the estimated 10.

If you’re the victim of a non violent property crime you are low priority for many PD’s, not uncommon to wait a long time for an officer to become available to receive a report

Unlike Americans, we actually did defund our police in Canada.

Also defunded jails, defunded firefighters, defunded hospitals, defunded schools.

We decided we didn't want to drill our oil anymore.

He drives nice cars, so they get stolen, driven down the highway to Montreal, put into cargo and sent overseas.

There was a news story of a guy who could track his truck right to the port, but police couldn't do anything.

Another found a car from Quebec over in Africa somewhere. License plate and all still on it.

So about 57% return rate. much higher than I thought

If you've had two cars stolen in half a year, makes me wonder if you're being sloppy/reckless (getting out for "quick errand" unlocked, with keys still in car, etc.)
