Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Anyways, game looks great and it's been on my radar for a while and the reviews are giving this really high praise, with some saying it's an early contender for GOTY.



Can't wait to get started on this tomorrow

Clair is incredible. There hasn't been very many games that I've been impressed with since this gen started in late 2020 (4.5 years ago now), but early returns has this right at the top.

Was able to play 45 minutes of it while on my lunch break. Was only able to do a little tutorial battle and do a bit of the story, but man. The soundtrack is absolutely beautiful.

I've played maybe three hours and some of it reminds me of Wukong. Not gameplay wise, but how the areas are structured feels very similar, where you're on a path and come to an area and that area has a few nooks to check out and then you go on the path to the next area. I'm sure, like Wukong, as you go along the areas will get bigger and there's more to explore. Like Wukong, there's no map so you gotta remember every path. There are also flags that if you rest at them, they will respawn the enemies. You also have something like the flask that you use to heal yourself between battles that has a number of charges and will need to be refilled by resting at a flag.

The battles are fun but I haven't figured out the dodge and parry timing quite yet lol

Game is getting crazy buzz. Some reviewers I like saying it’s one of the best games they’ve ever played. Usually try to wait for sales for most games but might have to jump on this one.
Love turn based combat and this seems like a nice twist on it.

Well damn I'm bottle necked. I'm good on most specs but the minimum requirement for graphics is a GTX 1060 6GB card I still have a 4 GB GTX 1050 Ti. I can play the game and am hooked right off the opening, but it looks terrible as there's a pixel slider setting that's locked at 50% for me. I bought a GTX 1080 ti trying Facebook marketplace for the first time but either the card was bad (though I did see it in action at the buyers) or my desktop doesn't have enough ventilation/cooling for it as I'm in a pretty cramped spot. I tried it out when I bought BG3 but it would just overheat and crash at the title screen.

Wasn't planning on upgrading anything for a while yet but now I'm not sure what to do, keep playing as is, wait, or bite the bullet. Doing a quick check on Amazon but still can't believe a GTX 1060 is still around $250 Cdn.

Only played the prologue but the story immediately pulled me in. Seems like a unique take on turn-based stuff, which I can get bored with in most games.

Played 3 hours, I’m completely hooked already. What a powerful opening! I still cant believe some brand new company with 30 people made this game.

For those wondering, being able to upgrade weapons happens after the Flying Waters part and you camp. Your weapons can randomly level up before that though, I had one go from 4 to 9 after a battle on the world map and now my Gustave is wrecking shit lol

If it was anything like for me, you'll be instantly hooked into this game just from the opening scene in itself.
