I didn't know that Yappy was in Toronto. He has some UNB guys in his agency. Not sure who, but he told me during the playoff game at SMU.
Newfoundland Growlers franchise was terminated by the ECHL board. Team has folded, depending on their contract...players can possibly sign elsewhere in the league. Not sure exactly where to put this, but since the ECHL is a common place for U-Sports players to end up.... there appears to be increased chatter about the Trois Rivieres Lions and Newfoundland Growlers being in ownership and financial trouble. April 2 seems to be a date being tossed around about a decision about these franchises, both owned by Deacon Sports & Entertainment
Not surprised but was hoping he would stick around for another season.Isaac Nurse, UNB to Florida Everblades.
Not from Newfoundland anyway., so it is highly unlikelyWow, has there ever been talk of Memorial University joining the AUS?
Me too...he became a fan favourite and a vital part of their bottom-6/PK. I don't know if I've ever saw someone take so many hard hits and just keep on going...his motor never quit. Not surprised but was hoping he would stick around for another season.
From people I talk to around the rink I think the most unanimously loved players in last 20 or so years are Nurse and Jon Harty.Me too...he became a fan favourite and a vital part of their bottom-6/PK. Good observation. They had a similar style and a knack for getting under your skin. It'll be hard to replace Nurse. From people I talk to around the rink I think the most unanimously loved players in last 20 or so years are Nurse and Jon Harty.
They used to, joined MIAA in 1968, left one year to play Senior, but came back the next, 1977? and played until 1981/82.Wow, has there ever been talk of Memorial University joining the AUS?
Liam Hawel StFX to IK Oskarshamn (HockeyAllsvenskan)
And Nelson and Smith.Big loss for X. Along with Jacob Hudson
Yes - some of UNB's biggest wins are at their expense (Feb 2, 1980 - 14-1 in Fredericton, Nov 8, 1980 - 15-1 in Fredericton and Feb 22, 1981 - 16-3 in St. John's).Wow, has there ever been talk of Memorial University joining the AUS?
Kade Landry with the same teamLiam Hawel StFX to IK Oskarshamn (HockeyAllsvenskan)
IK Oskarshamn finished last this season in the SHL, Sweden's top league, and were just relegated. Wonder if they're rebuilding to try to move back up, or will settle for just competing in the second tier.Liam Hawel StFX to IK Oskarshamn (HockeyAllsvenskan)

They played in the AUAA on three(3) different occations:
- 1970-71 & 1971-72, followed by a two year break
- 1974-75 & 1975-76, followed by three year break
- 1979-80, 1980-81 & 1981-82
It was very expensive - Jack Drover, UNB Red Devil Alumni and Mt. A coach said to me once - the "$6 million mistake".
The schedule was modified to help - some years UNB would host them for 2 games, other years UNB would travel there.
With really poor results - it was just a matter of time.
Big loss for Moncton to lose a guy coming off a 34 point rookie season.According to Eliteprospects 2 AUS players signing in Europe:
Jeremy Lapointe - Moncton to Nice
Matthew Struthers - STFX to Kalmar HC
That's good news. He's been dealing with mental health issues.Noah Philp signs 2 way deal with Oilers after not playing last year.
