Value of: Chris Kreider

wait, people think he'd return a 1st round pick? Come on now.

I mean, I guess you never know as there are a LOT of stupid GMs out there, but yeah....

I think Kreider is a guy that will have a way different valuation based on who you ask.
It seems very likely that he’s only going to be discussed with last year in mind as if that wasn’t a complete clusterf*** for the entire Rangers organization and that Kreider wasn’t dealing with a bunch of injuries and the blowback from the trade memo.

He’s healthy this offseason, and it seems very likely that last year will just be an aberration. There will be some age-related decline, but you’re still looking at 2x$6.5M for a guy that’s a great PKer, is a top net-front powerplay guy, and is a good bet for 25-30G on the year. He also has the history of being a good playoff performer with numerous clutch goals under his belt.

In a really bad UFA market, why wouldn’t other teams want someone like that? I get why Drury wants to trade him, but I also don’t think the Rangers would feel bad if he ended up staying.

All of this is true, but it doesn't change the fact that it is a lot harder to bet on the bolded for a 34-year-old than a 27-year-old.

Agreed, but I also think the likelihood that he’ll bounce back from a career low in assists and his lowest shooting% in 5 years is higher. My comments weren’t to make it seem like the Rangers will get this ridiculous return for him. It’s more to address that they’re not going to have to pay to dump his contract, just like they didn’t have to do it for Trouba.

The UFA market being as bad as it is only helps them here, and GMs are always going to convince themselves to take a chance on size and skating.

Last year is gonna drag his value down a bit. But I think it's likely that at least a couple of the 15 teams he could go to are interested. One of the best net-front guys in the league. Plays in all situations. Has a lot of playoff experience. There's definitely a market.

lots of "kreider + schneider" stuff in here. from the CBJ perspective i'd absolutely give up sillinger and maybe the MIN 1st too for that deal, mostly to get schneider but also because kreider would be a nice vet to have here.

Chicago has the cap space, assets and need for a player of this caliber.

A solid citizen on and off the ice, could be a solid leader type without needing a letter on his chest.

Sillinger and Brindley for CK and Schneider

age 34 , 17 ES points last year, hard decline 2 more years at 6.5M, and 15 team NTC, Without retention you are looking at Future considerations. Not sure he moves without retention.
Not a hard decline. He had back issues last year. I actually saw him at my local Whole Foods a week ago and his hand was in a brace. He will decline eventually just like every athlete, but his performance last year was due to injuries, combined with how shit we were as a team.

I'd welcome him to the Ducks long as trade cost was not outrageous. Helps in areas of need and maybe the other ex-Rags on the team sell him on joining a team on the (expected) upswing.

Kreider +Trochek for Necas and Coyle or Colton.
I dont think the Rangers have any intention of moving Trocheck. he's best friends with JT Miller - apparently - and the FO appears to have handed the keys over to JT, at least for the foreseeable.

Kreider right now is an excellent third liner and special teamer. With the Rangers he gets deferential treatment, top six minutes, and players are always passing up shots in order to feed Kreider. That's not good for him or the team.
With another team, or possibly even with the Sullivan Rangers, he takes the appropriate role and is a great value.
As for his salary, $6.5m for two seasons is not a huge stumbling block. Maybe a bit much but i can't imagine it's going to make or break a potential deal.

No.

What value does Murphy bring to NYR? 32 year old pending UFA. Kurashev? Meh. Reichel has been a huge disappointment. I loved him his first full year in Chicago but I'm not sure what has happened the last 2 season's. Your offer is mediocre.

Am I the only one who feels like Carolina has extra forwards on their roster? It seems like they are always adding forwards.
