Good Morning Kerry,

Are the refs ever going to deal with Kreider? He ran goalie after goalie last season and playoffs and has just stuck his knee out in an attempt to injury Holtby last night. His usual MO is to charge the net and then go down easy at the slightest touch thereby taking the helpless tender out at the knees. This time was a little more blatant, but same idea. It's this kind of thing that, if left unchecked, requires the players to start dealing with him on the ice because the refs seem to want to make excuses for his behavior.

Cheers, Colin

This thread is about Kreider. Keep it that way. Enough of the OT discussion.

He needs to learn how to brake the Luis Mendoza way.

At this point that part of his game is either accidentally on purpose, or so careless that it doesn't matter.

And he would undoubtedly have multiple suspensions if he played for the Darcy Regier Sabres.

He was getting pushed towards Holtby last night, but he clearly shifted in order to get a piece of Holtby. I actually used to give Kreider the benefit of the doubt on these goalie things just because he is a big guy who drives hard to the net. But last night showed that he does it on purpose.

People love to defend Kreider on these goalie situations. Please tell me then, why he is most often involved with them? I know of PLENTY of NHL players that drive the net just as hard and never encounter these problems, or at least not at his rate.

Holtby has been playing well these playoffs and that concerns the Rangers.

The Rangers obviously have a game plan to try to injure Holtby. You can see that being carried out by Kreider the suicider as well as Tanner Glass with his stick to the throat routine. :shakehead

yes he has to get get suspended sooner or later. Maybe he isn't trying to hurt goalies but he has to learn to avoid them better.

I'm not defending him.

I hope he continues to torment both opposing teams goalies and their fans

Kreider was clearly aiming at Holtby, but Orpik went all Dikembe Mutombo "Not in my house!" on him and threw him into the goal before Kreider was able to, uh, lose his footing.

I also use to give him the benefit of the doubt. I vehemently defended him to the death over Price and Anderson last year, thinking that he's just a big guy that likes to crash the crease.

Yeah, totally changed my tune since then. He either willingly tries to "accidentally on purpose" goalies or he's just an idiot (which is what I hear from a lot of Ranger fans - he's just dumb, not malicious).

I don't think he's trying to hurt goalies, but I do believe he doesn't do his best to avoid contact...

He was 100% innocent when Price got hurt though, still mind blowing that people hold him responsible for that

After the debacle knocking out Price last year to end the Habs run, you think the league would have a word with the guy. Crap like this is what leads to other things where players take their own actions to retaliate. No team can replaces their #1 goalie if he gets knocked out. It is completely unfair. You can replace a position player but not the goalie. Kreider must have something on Bettman for this to continue on continuing on.

Kreider was very clearly pushed into Holtby, the moment I saw the situation I knew there would be a thread about it on this board cause of the immense hate for Kreider, find a situation where Kreider commits GI when he isnt either pushed or tripped into the goalie

OR

and I kind of lean this way

You and many other folks on this board are making a bigger deal out of this than it really is.

Yup, that's the slant I see in all of this

I think he should get suspended. Injuring goalies, being done maliciously or stupidly results in one thing: injured goalies. It needs to stop.

Convenient.

In some instances there have been extenuating circumstances that shift some of the blame away from him. Other times, it's pretty evident he's looking for a piece.

big guy that goes hard to the net very fast.
This usually leads to someone knocking him off balance a little as they can't fully defend him and his speed and size mix. Results unfavourably most of the time towards the goaltender.
But Most (NOT ALL) times it is not his fault for contact with the goalie. There have been some instances that were more questionable than others, but the Holtby one last night looked more like Orpiks fault, and i think Orpik saw it that way as well.

I don't think hes a goon, but i could see why he is being potentially seen in that light. Kid needs to learn how to pull the emergency break.
