Speculation: Chris Johnston "An atom bomb could drop"

Looking back, its sad we thought Dubas teams stood a chance in hell lol.

What terrible terrible rosters.

That got just as far as the current roster...

You also replied to a post about Kampf and Jarnkrok, Jarnkrok was re-signed by Treliving, and only 3 years ago, Treliving paid multiple 2nds for Jarnkrok, they are both Treliving type players based on his past moves.

Jarnkrok was not signed by Tre. It was a dubas signing in 2022 free agency. Tre was still with Flames at this time.

Jarnkrok was a rental for Treliving on an expiring contract. He didnt resign Jarnkrok.

Dubas paid 2.1 millionx4 million for Jarnkrok that offseason, after Jarnkrok had 1 goals and 8 points in his final 29 games of the year before.

Not exactly... Dubas made the 2nd round once in his tenure and that roster was ousted in 5 games by Fla.

Treliving made the 2nd round his 2nd season and his team was ousted by Fla in 7 games.

Also, Dubas had a boatload of assets to play with, while Treliving didnt thanks to Dubas.

Finally, it was Dubas who signed Marner to his ridiculous contract that included a NMC in the final year.

We could go on amd on..but Dubas made a huge mess that sevsrely limited Trees hand.

I think the trades for Carlo and Laughton also limit his hand and they were objective disasters.

They were..but Shanahan im sure forced his hand to do whatever it took to improve the roster. Shanny knew he needed a cup final or maybe even a cup to save his job.

Unfortnately, Dubas mess of cap distribution severely limited who Tree could acquire and he had numerous holes to fill.

Marner, Kampf, Jarnkrok and Reilly out.

Get Kampf and Reilly to waive.

Re-sign Tavares on half of his current deal.

Re-sign Lorentz and Holmberg

Sign Granlund (C), Kane, Mangiapane (LW) and Tanev (C/RW) in free agency

Trade Reilly in a deal to either acquire assets (picks and prospects) or as part of a larger deal to get true top pairing dman (ex. NYI Dobson). If traded for picks and prospects go all out for Ekblad at any cost. Worth the risk.

Preferred lineup:

Knies-Mathews-Kane
Mangiapane-Granlund-Nylander
McMann-Tavares-Domi
Lorentz-Laughton-Tanev
Holmberg

OEL-Ekblad
McCabe-Tanev
Benoit-Carlo
Myers

Stolarz
Woll

Honest question...

Would you rather have Rielly @ $7.5m or Ekblad at $9m? Because I don't think he's leaving Florida to come to Toronto for any less than that.

Any chance the leafs trade Willy for a package around high picks, a really good prospect and a player like Garland and then use the assets to go after a high- end Dman like Dobson?

Adding him, Bennett and either keeping Marner or adding another 1 or two wingers via trade and UFA shakes up the core, improves a very vanilla Dcorp, shakes things up without making the team worse offensively?
I would love to get Willy next to EP40.
Matthews and Rielly for EP40 and Hughes puts Willy next to EP40, just not in the way you hoped for. :D

Oh, my bad, this team was a huge success, they got to the 2nd round and lost instead of getting to the 2nd round and losing like past teams...............

They had enough assets to waste 2x 1st + 2 good prospects this deadline.

Treliving has already had more cap increases than Dubas, and he was here for one year.

Also, who cares, you listed a bunch of irrelevant things to the current GM.

So Jarnkrok and Kampf are Treliving style players, right? That was the question.

Calle Jarnkrok was traded to the Calgary Flames by the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday.

Seattle received a second-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, a third-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, and a seventh-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft for the forward.

Seems like Treliving liked Jarnkrok in the past.

Kampf was re-signed by Treliving.

Avoiding the question doesn't make it wrong, just for your information.

Jarnkrok was not signed by Tre. It was a dubas signing in 2022 free agency. Tre was still with Flames at this time.

You can just read above if you want, I am saying they are both Tre type players, and it is proven by him signing one and him trading for one the year Dubas signed him.

Dude picked TJ Brodie over Chris Tanev in the same free agent year & paid him $500k more per year for the same term.
Who was the GM in Calgary who signed Tanev and let Brodie walk?

Who was the same GM who nearly landed Kadri for Brodie..but Kadri nixed it?

Treviling made some damn good moved in Calgary.

D.Hamilton for 15th overall, 45th overall, 52nd overall

Then later traded Hamilton, Ferlund, Adam Fox to Carolina for Hanifin and Lindholm.

He signed Tanev and Markstrom

He wouldve fleeced Dubas on Kadri, for Brodie and Jankowski

Marner for Rantanen wouldve been a steal

Where's the atom bomb. I want it.
It's not happening.

They're going to wait for the embarassment to die down and then make minimal roster changes like the corporate f***s they are.

I don't want to be right. But I have a bad feeling about this. Maybe Edmonton winning the Cup would increase the organization humiliation? Not sure.
