Speculation: Chris Johnston "An atom bomb could drop"

Yes the Oilers lost but that doesn't have anything to do with my post. It was to show what you top players are supposed to look like in the playoffs.
McDavid and Draisaitl led the way last night.
Something Matthews and Marner rarely do come playoff time.
I have seen the do that and then end up blowing the lead and end up with like six total shots( around there anyway) as a team.

5 points on the 3 Oiler goals last night. In just over 10 minutes, Draisaitl matched the number of goals Marner scored vs Sens in 6 games and the Panthers in 7. Meanwhile Marner shot par on the golf course yesterday and Nylander is playing for Sweden tonight. Wonder how Big Papi is occupying himself for rounds 3 and 4.

End result is the Oilers lost and looked horrible doing so. Yes they outplayed Dallas for 2 periods and looked good doing so. But the Leafs outplayed the Panthers in game 3 for 75% of the game and took at 3-1 lead at the beginning of the 2nd. That got them no where.

McDavid and Drai have lead the way I agree. But their play defensively has been horrible. Plus they don't kill penalties where Matthews and Marner did. And did well at it.

I dont know whats worse, having your best players produce but letting in 6 goals in a loss where they were leading and let 5 goals in the 3rd. Or losing a game, a tight game or for that matter winning a tight game where your best players are not producing???

Pick your poison. But to me both outcomes equally suck and star players have let their teams down. Lets not make Edmonton better then Toronto based on points from their star players. Overall game people.

Golfing with the boys up in Caledon would be your answer:

Those that are defending Matthews, Marner and Nylander and wanting to keep them. Watch the Oilers tonight and see how star players leading the way looks like. For those who say Matthews isn't McDavid, then why is he paid like he is.
Oil lost but your point certainly stands. Would be incredible if any of our core could win puck battles and make plays like Draisaitl can.

I mean it was game 1, just like against the panthers where the leafs big guys put up multiple points...

They failed in winning a championship yes, but under Shanahan the Leafs went from being the leagues laughing stock to making the playoffs in 9 straight seasons. Longest current streak in the NHL.

I think at least 25 other originations will take making the playoffs in 9 straight years, it's extra revenue for them, especially if you're a smaller market team.
He also healed the rift between the team and Dave Keon and brought respect back to the team.
I am thankful for that but am really sorry that they rushed the rebuild and didn't finish the job.
Key fails are Dubas, Hunter, not closing the deal with Kelly McCrimmon(sp) and not lettting Lou negotiate the RFA deals for the young core.

True. If the Leafs had given up 5 in the 3rd period of game 7 I don't think we would be feeling any better than we do now. I kind of remember "it was 4-1" stinging pretty badly.

That's the thing, it is about the best players. While the Oilers did lose, McDavid and Draisaitl still led the way offensively. That's what you want from the highest paid player in the league.

That's been my point from the beginning. It was never about the Oilers losing. To show what star players are supposed to play like come playoff time. It's not just about last night but all playoffs.

Why is it gross... are they supposed to stay home and cry about it? Not leave the ice for 4 months? Not really much they can do. They got lives too.
No different then what any other team would do. If anything it shows they're a close bunch, still hanging out discussing how to approach next season instead of all scattering in different directions.

Kind of gross, but kind of fascinating at the same time.

I assume it's Morgan on the far left; I guess he's more based in Ontario now due to Tessa.
What would you like them to do? Hide? Its gross that fans think its gross that these guys are judged from playing golf after they lost.
This is why players are speaking out about playing in Toronto.
If I check any other team board on this site I don't think I would find fans complaining about players golfing.
Most of the guys don't live in Ontario and could be the last time many of them get together considering the amount of UFA and possible changes.
Also doesnt look like many of them are super happy

You’d think to hedge against negative stereotype, they’d go to a more remote location and do some other activity.

Or: Tell me you’re invincibly arrogant, without telling me you’re invincibly arrogant.
The Pulpit Club is a private course & dining room.

It's probably as private a club as you'll get, and they were quite north west of the city as well.

Because it takes 7 days to get tee time at this course...hmmm now let's count back from 21

That's not what I meant. Calm down.

The fact that someone is taking a picture of them from afar, likely hiding their phone in their coat, is the icky part. They can do whatever and I'm actually glad they all didn't just bolt off to where they end up in summer.
