Speculation: Chris Johnston "An atom bomb could drop"

Idk, Treliving is a failure and the writing is on the wall everywhere he goes. He ruined the flames and now he’s burning the leafs. That was a poor hire
It's hard to blame Treliving for the failures of the Leafs. He hasn't been here long enough. He couldn't do anything about Marner. He hasn't made any terrible moves so far. I don't see the point in replacing him right now. Same as Berube, they just came in

There may be a scenario where Keith Pelley has been doing due diligence behind the scenes on a new president of hockey ops and so that person might want to completely start fresh and hire his own people

Tre has done okay but he might just be caught in the wrong time
This is a possible thing.

I like the tree-trunk defense and the new coach. Please don't take us back to possession-only hockey and no-hit players.

This is why I think Treliving might be elevated to that role. He's been an exec for a long time, knows how to juggle what it takes and seems to have the capability of doing it. I'd have to see a list of capable Presidents and GMs to kind of see what it would look like.

I dont care for treiliving I am trying to dispel the fake narrative that people created of Tkachuk being some playoff warrior when he's just a baby back bitch who fled his Canadian team due to pressure
So you are ignoring the fact that since the Panthers acquired him, they have gone to the SCF twice, won a cup and are 3 games away from going the the SCF a third time. You clearly do not recall how good he was two years ago when he was scoring goals in OT. Quick when was the last time Marner or Nylander scored in OT in almost 70 playoff games?.

I was being kind of facetious but I'm guessing most of those guys could handle themselves against the average fan. Especially the type of tough guy throwing a beer at the players on the bench.
Maybe they could, maybe they couldn't.
Leafs would be a better team if they had someone that definitely could.
Nothing wrong with actual tough players, just need to keep the goons outta the game.

Canucks suffer from the same issue-Joshua is their guy for tough stuff, and he's really not all that much worry.

no I am saying he's a p***y who talks a lot but cant stand the pressure of a Canadian market. he's also a quitter who quits on his teammates. oh wow he had 2 years where he played at about the same scoring level as his regular season after he quit on his Calgary teammates and played like shit under the microscope in canada during the Calgary flame's playoffs. people out here salivating over a quitter who would rather play and win for the Charlotte Hornets rather than Boston Celtics.

no one deserves a promotion right now IMO. Just let Brad be the GM and that's it. He will be the final decision maker anyway with Shanny out

Shanahan never should have had so much say over hockey ops. The dude had 0 GM experience, just worked in the NHL office and was in charge of discipline for a while. Being hired straight away to be the guy over the GM made no sense. If you're going to do the dual heads thing, you need an experienced GM leading a younger one.

Treliving had least has 20 years of experience an an AGM and then GM. Makes no sense to have a guy like that be under the supervision of a guy who prior to joining the Leafs had never even been an AGM.

Again I don't fully blame Shananhan for the issues. He's just a mediator between the board and the GM. IMO a lot of the issues like keeping the core together was from the board.

Where did you hear this?

We know Shanny called the core after Dubas was fired to calm their panties.

Exactly. Not like Masai Ujiri who worked his way up as a scout, agm, GM and then president. Much different experiences.

Your NBA comp take is wrong,

Tkachuk didnt play and win on the Charlotte Hornets. If he did that he'd be regarded as an all time great player. It would be taking a dysfunctional organization that sucked and making them into a winner. Panthers were a good team already with good drafting and development but not great at the playoffs with their core guys choking hard from 2016 to 2022

He became the Kevin Durant for the GSW and made the Panthers into a potnetial dynasty.

His move wasn't as weak as KD as NBA players impact games more and Tkachuk in isolation isn't a top 3 player in the NHL like 2016 KD was.

What is the matter with people? Disgusting behaviour. If these are truly Leaf fans then I am ashamed to be part of this group. Ugh.
That little minority of idiot fans do not represent what leaf fans are liked. Every major sports team with massive fan basis have idiot fans. It’s sad people did this but it does not represent Toronto Maple Leaf fans.
