Speculation: Chris Johnston "An atom bomb could drop"

that team would be competitive with San Jose for the first overall pick. I'm more than happy making the playoffs every year and giving yourself a punchers chance unless of course you think 1Cs grow on trees?
A 1C that disappears when the pressure is on and throws his teammates under the bus. No thanks. Easton Cowan is on his way to being that 1C. I have no issues taking a step back for a year or two while Cowan and Knies being the new core.

Easton cowan isnt even a center....LOL

Whatever. What about Matthews is it that you like so much. Sure he scores during the regular season. He disappears in the playoffs, his teammates don't like him, he throws his teammates under the bus.
I dont know people said this shit about other top end centers who won cups but anyways why do you think his teammates dont like him? all ive heard are rave reviews from everyone...so unless you've got evidence to the contrary ill take it you're making that up.

he's had his moments and has scored some big goals for us you're better off going back to the well with a guy who's flirted with f***ing 70 goals in a season and has singlehandedly won playoff games before (Boston game 2, tampa game 4, best player in the tampa series, 4 goals in 6 games as a rookie against Washington). how is it that you think a team giving a franchise C gets better and wins a cup?

Seriously? What is there to discuss. His leafs have won two rounds in his 11 years here. His time is up you f***ing idiots. Chop chop FFS.
They need to discuss how they are going to spin another year of running it back.
Last year it was a surprise introduction of Pelley and a new coach. This year maybe a clown and some jugglers.
Maybe Bill Murray and a Groundhog.
Possibly John McClane.

There has been a few reports out there about how his teammates feel.

Sure he's has his moments but there few and far between. The biggest problem is that he's paid as a top tier player and doesn't play like it come playoff time.

I really think most of you don't watch other teams much at all. If you did, you would see what a franchise C actually looks like. He's paid like he is Crosby, McDavid or MacKinnon but he doesn't carry they play or lead his team like those guys do.

Sure if you move him that it's a good possibility the team is bad and becomes irrelevant again. It also is a good chance to start over with Knies and Cowan and build around them.

this guy has 1 goal in game 7s in his career and has only made it out of round 2 once after makar was added to his team.

secondly I have never seen these reports and knowing the people I know have only ever heard good things about Auston with his teammates loving him.

if you think we'd build around knies and Cowan I'd like for you to look just south on the QEW to understand what you're signing this team up for

They could happen that with Knies and Cowan they miss the playoffs consistently. Sure it's great they make the playoffs each season and are a great regular season team. Again Matthews, Marner and Nylander have continued to fail when it matters most. I don't see how all of a sudden that's going to change.

IMO your afraid of change and having hope going into each season is all you want.

I doubt they feel they have to.

They know virtually every Leafs fan will be back next season. Just like we were this year and the year before that, every year they run it back. We complain, we scream, we rage on social media but we always come back for more.

The only way they'd possibly "atom bomb" anything is if they see apathy from the fan base. Whether we hate the team or love the team, as long as we tune in to watch they're raking in the profits; It's when we stop caring and then stop going to see them, stop watching them, etc. that profits drop and then they'll believe they have to do something big.

And by big it means they just find & land a superstar somehow and then we'll all be watching again.

The team doesn’t have the balls to move Mathew’s. I don’t see that happening. The most I could see is Marner gone. They’ll bring back JT. Rielly we’re stuck with and Nylander isn’t going anywhere. Even if we’re rebuilding you still need some skill there.

Fire Shanny, ask Morgan to leave, mend the marner rift and sign him. Dump all. The passengers, and bring up tough kids/ acquire dogs.
