Sadly, no. His last leg injury wrecked his skating. I love Higgy, but he's pretty much done at this point.

Too bad. I was going to say I would rather have Higgens than Chiasson... wait ... that still may be the case.. I hope he has a good tryout always liked him.

He does still have the skill to play at an NHL level; excellent worker, solid PKer and grinder. As long as he can find a spot where speed and skating aren't heavily relied on, he could work out. I'm hoping for him, but a lot of teams like speed nowadays.

Highly doubt he gets a contract. This looks more like a depth move for camp. Teams have to ice a certain amount of veterans for preseason games and some players will be missing due to the World Cup.

Count me in as a guy who thinks Chris Higgins will turn this into a regular NHL job.

The 2 seasons prior to this he was hovering around the 40 point mark, while being a high end penalty killer, and solid defensively.

He broke his foot before last season even started, and never really got back up to speed. I think this had a huge impact on his skating, and he never got back up to game speed.

Assuming the foots back to healthy, I think Higgins can still provide some quality bottom 6 minutes.

That's too bad, if there's one thing I remember about his game when he was a Habs, it's his speed. Watching Plekanec and him being constant threats on the Penalty Kills, getting breakaways and 2on1s with their speed was fun.

Really hope his foot's recovered and he turns this into a contract. Always liked Higgins here, and I really hated the totally unnecessarily ham-fisted way he was tossed aside here.

Can he even skate? I saw him in Utica I think last season & he looked brutal

Saw Utica play Toronto last year and totally forgot he was sent down and at first I thought it was a different Higgins or something. He was pretty bad from what I saw.

He did suffer a foot injury last season. His skating was much better at the end of the season. I think he's still got enough left to be a decent bottom 6er. 1 season removed from hovering around 40 points.

Canucks do not treat players kindly or with a lot of respect for the person. Higgins was not the exception. He deserves a fresh start somewhere. I hope he doesn't have to go to Europe.

I remember when Chris Higgins, Michael Ryder, Mike Ribeiro and Tomas Plekanec were young with Montreal. Where the **** did the time go?

Higgins was horrible this past year. I am one of the bigger Willie haters, but you can't fault him for 'tossing' Higgins aside. Absolute liability.

I don't know. I think he'll be in tough to make the team. The Flames aren't really hurting for bottom 6 depth. I guess it can't hurt.

He was a safe player to put out there and probably not get scored on. He is still better than a lot of the 4th liners out there and I would be surprised to see him not get a contract
