Update - Hammond has now rejoined the team, so Driedger is back to Bingo. He's managed to cash a few NHL pay cheques this year, though, so good for him.

I believe you're right, yeah. Could swing either way — although the way Andy was grimacing, I'd definitely be more inclined to believe long- than short-term.

Exactly this.

No need to use one of our few official post-deadline recalls when we can get a freebie with an emergency recall.

Emergency recall lasts as long as the regular roster player is hurt, so there's no downsides to it... unless we have plans on keeping 3 goalies up for the rest of the season, which makes no sense.
