Is Pronger and chelios a closer comp?

I watched Chelios only when he was pretty washed (DTR post lockout) so never saw him when he was a franchise top 3D league wide player

Pronger only has 1 norris as well suprisingly despite being considered a superstar player from 2000 to 2010

Edit: Holy crap, Chelios started out in the early 80s. Didnt realize he had a near 30 year career lol

Chelios had a longer and better career. Neidermyer reached a higher ceiling of play.
If I’m picking one for my club during their best years of play I take Neidermyer.

Pretty easily Chelios. Niedermayer didn't really become a great defenseman until the second half of his career. His first 5-6 years or so he was considered a PP specialist and a liability defensively. Jacques Lemaire even experimented with him at Forward for a bit because of what a mess he was in his own zone.

His peak from 2003-2007 was remarkably good and unfortunately he lost a year of his prime due to the lockout. But outside of that peak he was "just" a #1 defenseman in the same vein as a Zack Werenski or a Rasmus Dahlin - top defensemen, but not really the elite of the elite.
