Who ya got?

You're BM for the day.. Take the easy way and keep on the Walrus?

Not sure how Sutter's contract talks are going..

But if he's on the market I'd go hard at him. We probably can't afford him.

I think we end up with McClean

No way McClean. He's on the bench for the collapse. If he had any influence it would have shown up.

I've thrown out Scott Stevens name in the past because he brings HOF credentials and if Scotty joins him, I'd really like to see how if would work out. I'd love to hear a few conversations between Stevens and Getzlaf on his lack of effort.

I also don't want a cast off from another team that wasn't successful. Even Roy in Colorado stirs the pot, not always good, but you know where you stand.

John

EDIT: I wasn't referring to Sutter as an unsuccessful cast off.

HOF players rarely make good coaches.

If you demanded me to immediately name a new coach, I'd go with Paulrus.

None of the other coaches, who are currently available, interest me at all. I especially don't want Carlyle, because I don't think that his second trip to Anaheim would cause a noticeable difference, as G&P have already quit on him once. Personally I'd hang on to Paulrus for now and wait and see if a "big" name enters the market (Julien, Hitchcock, D. Sutter).

there are absolutely zero decent candidates out there, which makes firing BB even worse than it already is

off the top of my head, the only guys i can think of that would be looking for a gig are yeo, boucher, crawford, and carlyle. maybe todd richards?

and none of those guys stand out, so if i were to pick i'd just go with the walrus

Well, there are some REALLY bad options out there, like Brent Sutter and Ron Wilson. Then there's Marc Crawford, who left Zürich (NLA) after his contract ended in April. Crawford does have a LOT of experience, but I don't know what his coaching game looks like these days.

The only guy I think who might be a good choice is Tippet, IF the new GM wants to get rid of him (which would be a huge mistake IMO). There's no obvious choice that represents a clear upgrade. The only reason to hire RC would be to motivate Getzlaf and/or Perry to waive their NMC.

My guess is the Walrus. Yawney has not spawned any form of confidence with his performance as an NHL or AHL head coach as far as I'm concerned. He's a great assistant, I don't see him as a great head coach though.

Hard to believe they would bump up anyone that's currently on the bench with all the talk of a 'new message'. Presumably if they had any input to put things back on track they would have shared by now instead of waiting for everything to crash and burn.

It's really too bad the B's didn't cut loose Julien. He would have been an excellent choice

Based on what HFYotes fans have posted, it seems they think that Tippett isn't going anywhere, for whatever reasons.

I'd love Tippet but he's taking a more expanded role for Coyotes, kinda like Roy. At least that's how I understood latest reports I read.

ron wilson honestly wouldn't be a bad choice

tippet isn't going anywhere. come to think of it, i wouldn't mind seeing carlyle come back. maybe his return would prompt the twins to demand a trade

Dallas Eakins is doing great stuff in San Diego right now. He's an option, especially if some of the youngsters are expected to jump up to the NHL soon.

Well, now that Bruce is available, maybe they will? :D

Yeah, I know. But there's always the chance that they can't get a good GM while keeping him. I'm not sure why they dumped their GM anyway. But he's a great coach.

Not so sure a first time HC would be ideal. If the idea is that this team was super successful the last 4 years under Bruce, but had some leadership/direction issues keeping them from beating this game 7 funk, then I'd say we need an experienced guy who'll command more respect from the players and keep his house in order. One of the murmurs about Bruce over the years is that his teams lacked accountability. Not saying I necessarily buy into that, but the only reason the coach was axed was because he couldn't get his leaders to lead them (not saying I buy that either, but it seems to be the premise that he was fired for).

Has to be a veteran, hard-nosed guy imo. The list of those types looks like a list of mistakes, so I have no clue. Just saying. I'll see myself out.

Wouldn't count him out because of that.

I'm not sure there are too many coaches out there who can get Getzlaf's attention to get him motivated. If Getzlaf just ignores the coach, as he has for years, with a NMC, it makes for a lose-lose situation no matter who comes in. How many coaches don't even want to come to Anaheim after seeing how events have played out recently.

As much as it hurts to type this... at least with Stevens we would get someone who knows how to win a game 7.
