Where I disagree with you is trading him for Dubois. I would rather give up our late first rounde and a roster player like Harris.

I know that he's small and probably not 5th overall value but I just love Benson.
I highly doubt Jets GM has any interest in Harris or a very late 1st for Dubois, you need to send quality to get quality.

Actually, you're wrong. If you slow it down you can actually see the tip of Rochette's stick hit the right hand. At full speed, it looks like left, but he went over top, and the tip gets him.

It should have been a call.

Maybe, I don't see it at all. All I see is Dumais giving up on the play to sell a call and not bothering to backcheck.

Absolutely. Lane is awful defensively..and he is very far of the NHl as well no matter.how good he is offensively.

Romanov at the same age was 10x better than Mailloux.and Lane defensively and even then he had big.problems.in his first 2 seasons defensively....

Big time shit show in Halifax. Completely botched a goal review and then at the end of the game the refs called a penalty on Halifax for stick lifting. The goal being overturned was pathetic though. It totally looks like Quebec nullified the hand pass but it was still a no go. I see zero conclusive evidence to overturn the goal. It’s a shame and sad for the kids to work hard all year for that garbage to happen

Dumais with an embarrassing display of lazy, selfish, prima donna behaviour.

It reminded me of Kovalev.

For the hand pass to be nullified, Quebec had to take possession of the puck. They never did. It was the right call.

Your not going to command a top 5 pick for Dubois - a later 1st pick and a young Dman maybe add a Beck and that's very reasonable

Sergachev was terrible at 5 vs 5 and he turned out pretty good.

Newsflash, every player make defensive mistake, especially junior aged players. That is why they have coaching staff and development team in place. If in 3 years he has not established himself in the NHL yet I would agree with you. For now, let the kids grow and develop.

and that's why Dubois should not be a target. Habs are in no need to have him now and they need their future assets too.

I would not trade anything of decent value for Dubois.

Thats true, and he still has monumental brain lapses on defense sometimes. Yet he plays 20+ minutes a game.

But he will fight for the puck, block any shots that come his way and his ability to transition quickly helps him so much to get out of trouble.

Mailloux is not perfect, and he doesn’t have to be. Like Hutson and Barron, his ability to get the puck out of the zone quickly will determine where he will be in the top 6.

He has the size, the reach and the physical game that those don’t have.

Worst part is the league is filled with defensemen that are less than consistent on the defensive side. With his tools, the right partner and a transition focused style of play there’s no doubt he’ll play in the league.

Mailloux does not.knkw.how to play in his own zone. He follows the puck everwhere...jeez.

Those who thinks that he is NHL are dreaming.

I don't see a top pairing defenseman 5 vs 5 at all
Mailloux will play in the NHL. And he is likely to be an inpact
player. The fact that he makes some mistakes at 20 years old. Does
not mean ,that he will not improve. But you are sure that he will
,make the mistake , that you think he made tonite.

He's played very little hockey the last couple years, so no wonder he's a little lost. This is the point of a development team. If you can't get something out of a player like Logan Mailloux, or an Adam Engström for that matter, your team won't do well. These guys have big time potential.

Is that a Q rule? I just watched the NHL video explanation and they said if the other team plays the puck it’s nullified. Quebec played the puck and if they didn’t you can’t see that to overturn

They explained it on TV yesterday and a Q referee even sent a message to say the same. Even if Quebec’s Truchon touched the puck a bit, it can’t be nullified because he was never in possession.

Beck produced in this round and provided incredible shut down defense.

People still worried? Oh probably when he doesn't score game 1 in the finals.

A prospect in Habs land is only as good as his last shift.

Offensive IQ is fine, defensive IQ average at best. Mailloux dominates more with his athletic tools than with his IQ. His feet need to get quicker and needs to play at a higher pace.

Yes I would agree with this. I think most of that can be solved by improving his positioning. At least I hope so because my main concern with him has been his feet. I think for him to be effective he needs to learn great positioning and then let the game come to him where he can use his reach and body. I don't think he will ever look pretty defensively, but a year in the pros should really help sort it out.
