CHL expands import draft to 3 rounds

Is this potentially in response or with consideration that the CHL may lose some players to NCAA hockey?
Or has this been in consideration for some time now?
Personally I like it as I'd like to see as much talent in the CHL as possible. With other expansion rumors too it helps fuel the player pool without as much drop off.

Good news for kids from Czechia, Slovakia, Switzerland, Germany, Belarus, Latvia, Austria, Denmark and Norway.

USA not subject to import rules. Left out the first three intentionally because you’re less likely to get fringe CHL players coming over so anyone that does likely cleared the “two per team” threshold easily.
I think they did this for two reasons.
1 - Players leaving early to go to the NCAA. More roster spots opening faster than before.
2 - Expansion. The WHL has one new team next season, should be another for 2026-27 with Chilliwack. All the talk about the OHL absorbing at least two USHL teams. I believe the Q has also been poking around the North Eastern US for expansion as well.
