Many backdoors to funnel money under the table so to speak so you never know.....

Another high end U.S. born California kid to the Dub....

yeah thats not how billionaires operate, trust me owners arent risking their pro ownership to give ole alma mater some money to recruit

"Another longtime Stanford benefactor, Greg Penner, bowed out of Cardinal One last year when he became a co-owner of the Denver Broncos. NFL policy prohibits owners from making contributions to any collective that might provide money to an athlete who would be selected in the NFL Draft."

this directly from an article about stanford nil, ishibia was funding msus, then he bought the suns and had to step away too

Again, you just never know but you are probably correct.

I think the big football - basketball programs have plenty of money . It was reported that Michigan was given 750k per year from the athletic department to give to players .

Never argued that they didn't, other than perhaps a couple...what I have been arguing with (some) is that more and more high-end Americans will begin to take the CHL route.
Some Americans have obviously always played in CHL. Of course you’d expect more now that they can retain ncaa eligibility. The much bigger development regardless of which feeder league they play in will be the number of good chl players that opt for ncaa when predictions were made it’ll only be for Overagers that don’t have pro offers.

I don’t disagree with you. But my point is that USA is still able to keep the ones they want

I think the big difference that will hurt ushl is they are going lose not just the stud Canadiens but also the really good ones who started out in say bchl then ended in the USHL . Then CHL will grab some USA kids and you add those dynamics together it will definitely hurt the league hard . I’m watching USHL draft right now and they we’re( commish ) saying they were in discussions to add even more USHL teams which would be a complete disaster !

Tyler Palmer (2003, USports, University of Alberta, formerly WHL) commits to Bowling Green.

Mathis Aguilar (2004, QMJHL, Victoriaville Tigres) commits to Alaska Anchorage.

Dax Williams (2005, WHL, Calgary Hitmen) commits to Holy Cross

Tyler MacKenzie (2004, WHL, Everett Silvertips) commits to Western Michigan after previously committing to Merrimack.

I can't remember but was MacKenzie's commitment to Merrimack ever put out or posted by either Everett or MacKenzie himself or was this just a case of McMahon never checking his sources??

I still think there will be law coming up soon limiting NIL and/or scholarship money to non USA kids .

NIL deals for foreign students on F-1 visas are already limited in scope. The collective must establish a foreign entity in the country of origin to facilitate payments (which is not an easy task, by the way), or the player can only earn passive income from licensing deals (from foreign sources, of course) or marketing events. These foreign players are typically well-known in their home countries and can secure lucrative deals. There is currently a bill introduced in Congress (which is unlikely to progress) that would allow foreign athletes to earn NIL while in the U.S. Therefore, it is very improbable that a counter-bill to further restrict NIL deals for international students will be introduced, as most people view this as a matter of fairness.

Get rid of scholarships for international students....only if USA Hockey and Glenn Hefferan have their way. A snowball has a better chance on the surface of the sun than that happening.

USA Hockey has never banned Canadians from any of its leagues. There has long been a very simple and easy to navigate transfer process for Junior players between the two. I don't know where this notion comes from that they are going to lobby the NCAA to not allow Canadians to receive scholarships/NIL for Division 1 Hockey.

It was reported Trump looking for fairness - executive order regarding these NIL deals so let’s see what happens . When word gets out that 60% of rosters in college hockey( maybe future ) is non USA kids gets NIl/ and scholarship money will be interesting too see any backlash from it . I’ve talked to lot of people before the rule change that wanted import rule for college hockey so it’s out there .

Sabin bent Trump's ear in order to cap NIL deals that are costing the collectives (boosters) multi millions to field football teams leaving less money for other endeavors (such as fund raising for bigger coaches' salaries) and are not only creating an even larger divide between the haves and have nots but even calling into question if the haves can continue to afford the escalating costs (only so much goodwill and booster money around you know, and those coaches like to get paid and have nice offices).

As for the niche word of college hockey, it hasn't really been a problem (yet and I'm very very skeptical of the claim that Penn is offering Martone north of 200K). Although this new rule change has certainly caused USA Hockey and the USHL much angst so much so that they have lobbied (and continue to do so) both the NCAA and Congress for caps on Canadians. That will not happen though.

A bigger concern is the NCAA’s change in eligibility rules leading to Canadians potentially displacing Americans on college rosters. Hefferan and USA Hockey executive director Pat Kelleher both said they’d like to see the U.S. Congress cap the number of international players on college teams.

Hockey East’s Metcalf dismissed that proposal outright.
