Lol MSU if you couldn't tell. Naruato is a massive dbag. Just watch how he acts during games. Also know firsthand from people he has recruited. Michigan does not care about development whatsoever, just draft position. If you were a 3rd rounder and they can replace you with a second-round guy just for appeal, they will. Look at what happened to Humphreys, a week later they bring Horcoff in and he burns a whole year of eligibility for 1/3 of the season. Just stupidly short sighted
More credence to what @jtechkid68 has been saying.

Michigan has very close ties to some prominent agencies (I would argue more so than the other Blue bloods) and one of those agencies happens to represent Gavin McKenna. Very premature to say that Gavin is locked into Michigan right now, however. I can also tell you that some of these agencies are becoming somewhat tired of the "going ons" at Michigan and if the Wolverines are not careful, the new power rising to the west of them is getting ready to take their place.

Are you talking about Western Michigan or Michigan State? If you're referring to State, East Lansing is northwest of Ann Arbor.

I'd argue it had already happened, B2b sweeps of Big ten tourney and regular season. MSU also has the more recent natty. For all the hype Michigan gets they haven't won it all since 1998

State....will be considered a blue blood once again, just wondering if it will be at Michigan's expense. Western of course is also a program to be reckoned with but their recruiting philosophy is a bit different, at least for now.

We've seen this in football and men's basketball, Michigan can have their bad periods and such but they'll always bounce back longterm, too much money in athletics

Michigan puts more effort into branding and social media than any other top DI hockey program. That isn't good or bad, but it is a noticeable difference.

State has to get 2 more National Championships to get to be in consideration for blue blood status. Gotta get as many as Minnesota, Boston University, & Boston College.

Not basing it on natys, more so on the ability to attract top flight talent.

They were once considered among the top programs....
The blue bloods are Denver, North Dakota, Michigan. Minnesota, Boston College, Boston University, Wisconsin. While Wisconsin has faded and is probably on the verge of completely losing that status amongst most, it's still in that tier. Michigan State and Maine have been just outside the blue blood tier historically.

15 NHL draft picks on next years MSU team seems like blue blood to me

Exactly and perhaps the quality of those drafted players will begin to rival those of the other top tier programs. At one time, MSU was able to compete with any program for high end players

MSU has better recruiting than Michigan as far as I’m concerned. MSU and North Dakota are the schools whose recruiting I like the most. Not to say they get the absolute best players, but I think they get a lot out of their recruiting.

Nightingale is a top coach, excellent hire

I'm apart of too many college football/college basketball discussions around the subject of "blue blood" semantics, please not here as well, lol
Someone work hockey's version of THE CHART.

for those that don't know, there is a chart for football the folks often refer to in order to define blue bloods in that sport.

I mean how can they add him this late in the season?

The Hitmen drafted him in the 2021 US draft and have held his rights ever since on their protected list. So I guess the rationale is that he's not being signed from outside the organization, it's more akin to signing a call-up.

Still an odd move though (unless Howe is going to be out longer), especially considering he's only guaranteed two games and you'll wonder what it might do to the locker room. Looking only at his stats and ranking, he appears to be an improvement over most of the bottom nine.
