CHL Can Now Play NCAA - Changes Everything

Maybe it's the ignorant Canadian in me who doesn't really know much about NCAA hockey besides like the top teams (or at least the top perceived teams) nor US university/college academic rankings, but I see some of these schools that CHL players are committing to and all I'm hoping is that they are making good choices for themselves as opposed to committing when the floodgates opened just so they can tell people they are a D1 athlete, regardless of quality of school or team.

On the flipside, I see some of the Dub players who have committed to schools and think "Really? You want that guy?" I do know a bit more about NCAAFB so I know not everyone can be a school full of 4 and 5 stars and everyone has to fill out their roster, but still.

USports getting hit twice now. They lose the top CHL recruits, and now are losing current players.

USports definitely the silent victim in all of this player movement. :help:
Then they just get the top Junior A guys who won't be good enough for the NCAA anymore. But yes, USports getting hit really hard

I could definitely see it being the case that some of these initial CHL-to-NCAA players transfer to USports after a year. Kind of for the reason I was implying above and also that they might never have been prepared to make that step to the NCAA until only earlier this year as opposed to Jr. A and USHL/NAHL/Lower who have always been aiming for the NCAA.

Not a CHL player, but one with implications for another.

Have heard Nolan Dupont has an offer from Big Ten school. Tried to find a thread on the prospect board but did not see one for him. Had 56-point season in AJHL this year. And notably, is older brother of Landon Dupont.

Has anyone see or heard anything on this?

I wonder if Landon can play in NCAA in 26/27 during his draft year. Brother could commit somewhere and go next year or year after with brother. Hopefully it's the Maize & Blue!!

I would suspect there was some contractual language ensuring that he remains in the WHL when he was granted EP by Hockey Canada and the CHL.

Information I am receiving is that he was granted the ability to also earn income through licensing deals(in effect a NIL for junior hockey) and that is a first for a CHL player and perhaps explains why it took so long to sign his standard(enhanced) contract with Everett last year. I would expect that similar opportunities would have to be granted to other CHL players.

No but if so we can assume that the school in question is using him as a lure for his younger brother, much like Michigan did with Fantili and B.U. with Celebrini.

Brad Schlossman went on a podcast with Ben Holden (B1G Network PxP) & Paul Caponigri (B1G Network Color Commentator) and basically insinuated that Michigan has some silent commits from OHLers that they're sitting on until the junior season is over.
