CHL can now play NCAA - change everything !

They don’t pull off a lot of the top names when the recruiting cycle begins. They don’t have the obvious pull that Minnesota, Michigan, BC, BU have in recruiting the 5 stars (the main NTDP players and the big name USHL/BCHL Canadians) that everyone focuses on from the beginning of the recruiting cycle, but they seem to pull in a lot of the 4.5 star players, and form changes and some players go under the radar.

I don’t know if they’re gonna be in contention for Misa or McKenna, but could they pull off a Xavier Villeneuve or Ben Kindel? I think if there’s some shocker, those are the two schools I’m looking at for that type of creative recruiting move.

They will. There are massive gaps for next year including a goalie that can come right in and commit for the starting job. They like old Candian goalies. Motzko will stay until he retires or "retires". At least three more seasons.

I love to see CCHA, ECAC and Atlantic Hockey teams snag good players. It makes the entire NCAA so much more competitive and ought to garner more interest for the game.

Well for the most part yes but TBH most of the people I met from Grand Forks were some of the most knowledgeable folks out there and knew a lot about junior hockey and the CHL. The rest of your point is spot on however.

College hockey NIL deals never involved a significant amount of money but for those who think the use of NIL and revenue sharing form the House Settlement will open the flood gates for elite CHL talent may have to rethink their strategy.....

Zakreski seems like a solid pickup. Solid depth forward for the Portland Winterhawks who can chip in a good amount of offense. Brad Berry & staff finally woke up, used their Western Canada connections again to get a recruit.

I wouldn't call him a depth forward for Portland, he's certainly a top 6 and is described as an agitator with a good motor and a dogged pursuer.

Yeah I misworded that. I should have said he projects to be a solid middle 6 NCAA forward.

I like too see a breakdown of the recruiting this year because it seems 80-90% of the 2004 - 2005 recruits are coming out of the CHL .

For what it's worth you can go to collegehockeyinc.com. They have a comprehensive list of NCAA recruits and can sort by current team, date committed, league, etc. Out of just the 100 or so committed since Jan 1st you see like others have pointed out it's split about 50/50 with CHL & USHL / Canadian Jr.A / Prep / Midget AAA etc.

Remember several of the top 04-05's in the USHL already are committed, that's why you're not seeing them as much. Look at any USHL line chart on a Friday night, majority of the 18-20 year olds are committed.
