Not directly related to the NCAA-CHL rule change but certainly has a bearing on what we previously discussed regarding CHL expansion....

Anderson is a maine commit on nhl central scouting list this year . why go to ushl as 2007 when they don’t play any of them thats why lot have them have left . Ushl is in denial because they had a complete control as only tier one league but they have really low end coaching and the game is over for them .
Or, hear me out, he wasn’t good enough to be a major contributor in the USHL. Go to a weaker league in your draft year to put up points so it doesnt hurt your draft stock. BCHL hockey is barely better than the NAHL.

I guess my point is he would have more than likely gone to the ushl next year but he signed with whl . Not sure your point since he’s playing in the whl next year which is better league than ushl . Dach his teammate will be drafted 3-4 th round this year is a penn state commit would more than likely gone to ushl next year but is heading to whl . I think you will see a good number of kids leave ushl this year for chl once the season over and no transfer fees .BCHl i think was a good league gaining traction on ushl with leaving hockey canada and merging with top Alberta league but new rule completely killed it . Nahl is irrelevant .

What's the point here, it's hard to keep track.

Players don't develop if they aren't playing so of course they will gravitate towards any program that they will play in and historically the BCHL has had a very good transition rate for NCAA players.

Anderson must be a pretty good player since he’s commited to Maine ( top programs ) and won u -16 natty title it looks with the Gulls year before . He’s 17 playing on first power play putting up huge numbers sounds better for development than playing 4 th line in ushl and then Edmonton must like him since they signed him for next year .

Any player who can garner a D-1 commit at the age of 16 and land on the NHL CBS draft list is a decent player. His rights were traded to Sioux Falls in exchange for a top 6 forward so it's not like the USHL was out of reach for the following season.

Yeah this is a nice pickup for Maine. Interesting if they can keep getting good kids out of the Q being they're a good program, great arena / atmosphere, and location obviously.
Very interested to see if most guys from the Q go to the NCAA instead of trying to jump in head first to the A (or even the Coast) at 20 years old as has been standard. Whether it be because of worse minor hockey in Quebec/Maritimes, or league playing style, seems like QMJHLers adapt to pro worse. Going to the NCAA to face age appropriate competition from 19-23ish years old could really help player development.

Yeah I agree you should for sure see lots more head the NCAA route. I think UMass has been on that front with the Q as well. Didn't they commit a good player out of Drummondville a couple months ago?

UNO stocking up on Q talent
They've had a Quebec pipeline for awhile, likely because head assistant coach Dave Noel Bernier is from Quebec & you'd think he has deep connections in Quebec minor hockey circles. They'll stock up on a lot of CHLers because their recruiting out of the USHL isn't as strong as the better NCAA programs.

Surely, as they have not been considered a top program. Enzo Lotin and Noah Florent, however, are considered "elite" level prospects who could have punched their ticket to one of the "better" programs so Kudos to UNO for landing them.

I like too see a breakdown of the recruiting this year because it seems 80-90% of the 2004 - 2005 recruits are coming out of the CHL .

Hockey East. Since 8/1/24, this recruiting cycle:

04
6 OHL
4 WHL
3 QMJHL
3 USHL
1 NAHL
1 BCHL
1 NCDC

05
5 BCHL
2 USHL
1 NAHL

And one 2003 from the Q.

Close to 53 % of all commitments have come from the CHL since the rule change was enacted. We can expect this number to only rise. I would venture to guess that the CHL will provide at least 50% of all commitments going forward year in and year out.

What does that even mean?
They don’t pull off a lot of the top names when the recruiting cycle begins. They don’t have the obvious pull that Minnesota, Michigan, BC, BU have in recruiting the 5 stars (the main NTDP players and the big name USHL/BCHL Canadians) that everyone focuses on from the beginning of the recruiting cycle, but they seem to pull in a lot of the 4.5 star players, and form changes and some players go under the radar.

I don’t know if they’re gonna be in contention for Misa or McKenna, but could they pull off a Xavier Villeneuve or Ben Kindel? I think if there’s some shocker, those are the two schools I’m looking at for that type of creative recruiting move.
