What This Means for You:
Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.
In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord ServerYeah I was thinking the sameI had a theory that this might a potential result of the CHL now being NCAA eligible: lose some talent a bit earlier than expected, open up another import spot & try to get another talented import over, boost your roster.
I think even if they don't go to North America, some of Czechia or Slovakia players won't "stay home" too. There're Fin/Swe leagues. Going to America at least allows them to adapt North America earlier.Fwiw.. I'd be fan with zero euros allowed in North America before the age of 20. Stay home. Go to NHL directly if you can. Go to AHL as a 19 year old if good enough.
I think the landscape being opened up and easier to move through is only a positive for player development overall. Let's players and their reps take a more hands on approach to development...and could allow CHL teams with more creative front offices new ways of staying competitive.Between this possibly and more Americans, the Don Cherry crowd won't be happy.
In all seriousness, seems like a good idea. If the CHL plans on expanding, they'll need to expand their talent pool accordingly
Yes, as long as they didn't sign a pro deal in EuropeWould a Euro therefore be able to go CHL then NCAA?
It is a good point but I'd be fine if they banned us too. Czechs leaving early is a big problem for us. And our U20 team is usually every league in the world.lol. NCAA, USHL, whl, qhl, ohl, extraliga, liiga and AHL. It's not good. Hrabal, blumel/benak/nestrasil, stancl/jecho, melovsky, sapovaliv, Sikora, kos and Kulich. As examples. Pasta a product of Sweden. Badinka a product of Sweden.I think even if they don't go to North America, some of Czechia or Slovakia players won't "stay home" too. There're Fin/Swe leagues. Why limit the player pool? Why prevent the league from being more talented and a better product? Why isolationism?Fwiw.. I'd be fan with zero euros allowed in North America before the age of 20. Stay home. Go to NHL directly if you can. Go to AHL as a 19 year old if good enough.

So the players all improve. When 3 Czechs take a spot in the whl.. that's three less Canucks on the team. Or less spots in USHL. Develop to 20. It's make the U18 and U20.better. i see it as improving. Why limit the player pool? Why prevent the league from being more talented and a better product? Why isolationism?
I’ll never understand the punitive prohibitive player movement mindset. We all love hockey, why not shoot for the best product possible? Why limit movement? Seems xenophobic to prevent a Czech from playing in NA. Competition league to league encourages leagues to get better and more attractive, seems like a good thing. It is a good point but I'd be fine if they banned us too. Our junior leagues are terrible. Our adult.leqgue has improved but is not good for young players. So if you are 18 and draftable.. your options are to play in a weak somewhat scouted Czech U20 league or sit on bench in extraliga.May have asked you this before but why is it so many Czech and Slovak players are heading elsewhere (not just to North America) rather than playing in the domestic junior leagues. Are there too many teams, coaching issues or other factors? Twenty years ago the Czrch Republic had as many top players as any country.
You're calling me xenophobic? You are either American or Canadian.I’ll never understand the punitive prohibitive player movement mindset. You are trying to balance the product with being what you ultimately are.. as massive domestic Junior League. People in these cities and more so the towns, love to see locals playing for their teams.I’ll never understand the punitive prohibitive player movement mindset. No, I’m saying what you wrote could be considered xenophobic/isolationist. I’m Swedish. I want Swedes to have free movement to wherever they can develop best. I don’t want to limit them to just our domestic leagues. You're calling me xenophobic? You are either American or Canadian.
Boys need to think about their development and their entire careers, just as Sale went to the CHL during the D+1 season to get himself out of the CHL agreement and to play in the AHL this season, other kids who chose the CHL simply because it was the best of the options they had.It is a good point but I'd be fine if they banned us too. Yeah a good CHL GM is worth their weight in gold because the import draft isn't truly a draft. It's about connections/relationships.I think the landscape being opened up and easier to move through is only a positive for player development overall. Let's players and their reps take a more hands on approach to development...and could allow CHL teams with more creative front offices new ways of staying competitive.
Have to ask are all the American and Canadian juniors banned from Europe? Of course not but they don't go. There is an imbalance. Only primo player I can think of is Matthews playing in NLA.Boys need to think about their development and their entire careers, just as Sale went to the CHL during the D+1 season to get himself out of the CHL agreement and to play in the AHL this season, other kids who chose the CHL simply because it was the best of the options they had.
I don't live in North America, and I would love to see hockey developed evenly around the world so kids don't have to leave home too early to chase their dreams.
But hoping to ban what is best for kids is not good for player development on the reality of not being able to change the differences at the league level.

Nothing is totally balanced in the world, just like Pasta is playing in the NHL instead of Euro. Players just choose what they think is the best option, whereas North American players don't choose the Euro league simply because it's not the best option for their career.Have to ask are all the American and Canadian juniors banned from Europe?
