To Utah:
Petr Mrazek (retained)
Connor Murphy (retained)
(Another vet forward like Marron or Smith?)

To Chicago:
Daniil But
(Crappy contract?)
(Another prospect?)
(draft pick?)

Rationale: Chicago is in a weird spot where they're not good yet they have too many players taking roster spots for the young kids coming up. Connor Murphy and Petr Mrazek are playing as well as I've ever seen them but it's not doing the team much good. They also have Arvid Soderblom playing much better than expected, Laurent Brossoit will come back soon, and Drew Commesso needing time in the minors to play and develop. What they need is high end scoring potential and it looks like Utah has plenty of young talent up front already with Iginla knocking on the door. Utah looks like they need defensive depth with all the injuries and their goaltending doesn't look to be very strong at the moment.

Maybe I don't have the details right but I feel like there's a deal to be made here. Even if they share a division.

Horrendous for Utah. Change But for Carcone and Bill Armstrong would still likely say no for the fact of bringing in those contracts.

No need for Mrazek. Their defense will eventually get healthy and Murphy doesn’t change the needle in any direction.

Utah is very high on But, that’s a very bad offer.

Carcone for a 4th and you have a deal.

Carcone isn't worth anything close to a 4th rounder

We have a far more expensive version of Carcone as healthy scratch (Anthanasiou)

These teams aren't good trade partners honestly as noted that Yotes eventually will have defenders return and Murphy is signed thru next year so likely not type of dman they would look for (Rental is what they would target IMO) if they go shopping for more D help after acquiring Maatta

You could make a good case that But is Utah's most valuable prospect. So, no.

Still stuck in Forum 40
Mrazek is not needed. Utah doesn't need Murphy to be retained. But isn't going to be traded. Would have preferred Murphy over Maatta, but now waiting on Durzi and Marino to get healthy and then see where the team is at and who else may be available at that time.

No idea why Utah would throw away a 12th overall pick playing well in the KHL as a teenager.

Murphy at 50 % plus a remaining year will be a very good Trade Deadline candidate, but not for this deal.

No chance But gets traded, especially not for this. I think Utah would be smart to get Mrazek but they don't really need him either. Makes no sense to trade a top prospect.
