Does anybody think Chicago would trade first overall(Bedard) for second overall(fantilli?)

I was thinking of a hypothetical sedinesque scenario where the Canucks make a series of moves to get Bedard. Say something like

CBJ: 3rd oa -- Canucks 11 oa, JT. Miller+..?

ANA: 2nd oa -- Canucks 3rd oa+ podkolzin/lekkarimaki

Chicago 1st oa -- Canucks 2nd oa+ podkolzin/lekkarimaki +future 1st

It's probably to many moving parts for it to happen, but would the value be there for the teams?

Teams generally only trade down if they were targeting somebody else and they think they can still get them later. The Sedins were a somewhat unique thing which lined up because Tampa/NYR and Atlanta wanted somebody else. Burke didn't know it in the moment, but he would have gotten the Sedins at #3/4. Tampa didn't trade down because of the value, it was because they preferred Pavel Brendl and they could add a couple extra (middling) picks in the process.

Can't imagine too many owners willingly letting go of a box office draw like Bedard. We already saw the amount of ticket interest spike after they won the lottery.

Edit: This reminds me a little bit of 2017. Vegas wanted to make a splash and trade up to draft Nolan Patrick with the #1 pick. In theory they would have traded up from #6 to #3, then #3 to #1. But they got stonewalled by Dallas who had no interest in moving down.

Your offer from Vancouver to Chicago is a pile of trash.

(Minus Fantilli)

It falls apart on the 1st offer. We dont want Miller for the length of that deal and if there was an avenue to get Bedard why wouldnt Columbus/Anaheim do it themselves?

For Chicago to even entertain the notion, the + to the 2OA would have to be someone like Quinn Hughes.

your values are not even close.

The season ticket interest increased so much once he got drafted, the jerseys and what it does for the franchise...yea he's not getting traded.

He's the pillar on which you build around now.

Proposal rejected immediately, sight unseen. Don't even care what you were about to offer; we're not interested.

BARE minimum would revolve around Petey AND Demko + 11 OA to make up the difference for a cost-controlled generational talent like Bedard. At that point neither team will do it.

Also sad to see this proposal came from a fellow Nucklehead.

There's no one in the NHL I would even consider trading Bedard for right now.

Just stop.

All threads that mention Bedard need to be held in limbo until approved by a moderator. Make it happen hfboards.

Bedard for Dahlin + Thompson + Power would have to be the base to get Chicago to MAYBE consider, and Buffalo would never consider that in a million years. Even if you can find a trade that Chicago agrees to, the other team sending way too much in the trade won't agree to it.
