Ok bear with me. I haven’t really thought of any pieces involved but since st Louis wants to reunite the Stenberg bros, San Jose wouldn’t mind moving down and Chicago probably needing a big center is there some kind of zany trade along the lines of:

San Jose gets 4th, Korchinski
Blues get 2oa, Boisvert
Chicago gets: Robert Thomas

Let’s get this moving before one of the GMs files a restraining order.

Blues wouldn't do this

O chance I would trade the 4th OA + Korchinski + Boisvert for f***ing Robert Thomas.

You cant be serious?

Hawks would fax in paperwork and fly Thomas in immediately and probably name him captain!

Seriously Thomas signed to great cap hit long-term would be impact addition to rebuilding team that would lead to next step (Return to playoffs)

Rivals very rarely if ever make trades to this magnitude. Chicago has Bedard and Frondell that I would just use as my top 2 Cs if I was them. If Chicago could get Thomas for that, I do believe they'd do it.

I think it’s gonna become more common as teams do what’s best for them. Look at Hertl going to the Knights or Marchand to Florida.

I think Korchinski will show more this year as I don't want the Hawks to give up on another young defender like Forsling. I also probably value to 4th OA more than some (especially with the premise of drafting Stenberg)

As for being serious, yes my "0 chance" and "f***ing Thomas" comment was hyperbole to match the quoted post. Thomas is a good player but I still wouldn't do it from the Hawks perspective as I also agree it makes the Blues better with Stenberg and the Hawks/Blues likely won't trade with each other

Those are both cases of a contender adding and sending futures to a basement team. The Blues aren't good, but Chicago is godawful. They have so much adding and growing to do before they make moves like you're describing.

For the record, my post is just at the volume of crazy Thomas threads and how moving him to Chicago is just not happening for a multitude of reasons, that I assume we'd agree on.
Yeah I don't think rivals would trade with each other. I meant more that my post was hyperbolic to match what you said in terms of phrasing. Not so much that your post was hyperbole if that makes sense haha

All this talk is kind of pointless anyway if Dreger is correct that San Jose doesn't want to drop below 4th. Everyone knows McKenna is giong 1 and that Vancouver is likely taking Malhotra. Chicago can chill in 4th and take who they want or flip that pick, and San Jose will likely take Reid at 2. San Jose doesn't want to miss out on their top dman target, so it's either a trade with Chicago or a team that acquires Chicago's pick. If the team at 4 has a good feeling of how the top 3 is going to go, there's no point in trading up to 2.

I don't think that's worth trading back.
Really? If anyone would say yes to this it would be San Jose. You basically get Korchinski for free and end up drafting the player your going to draft 2nd OA anyway.

In this scenario
Toronto is taking McKenna
Blues take Stenberg
Vancouver take Maholtra
San Jose takes Reid

Tough trade...I dont see the Hawks and Blues willing to help each other get big pieces. The Blues are probably the Hawks most hated rival since Detroit moved out east.

The Sharks probably get the worst of this, too.

I'd say maybe cut out the Blues. If the Sharks want Korchinski - Korchinski + #45 overall to swap 2 and 4?

Are you drunk? Hard pass.

I don’t think there’s a prospect in this specific draft that bringing in would make sense for the Blues to move Thomas. I’m sure 5 years down the road that will look like a silly statement, but there isn’t a good enough center prospect in this draft to feel comfortable doing that and enduring the long drop off.

I don't think Korchinski is great, but I would do it if the sharks insist on taking a D just for the chance he becomes playable.

The amount of inconsistencies in this thread tells me I absolutely nailed it.

Not too shabby for someone who was simply killing time while pushing out a log.
