Speculation: Chicago scouting Colorado (5 straight games, GM in person today)

Would Jones with enough retention be the worst thing for the 3rd pairing? We have had some real struggles there throughout the season. Have not watched the Hawks, so no clue if he is still at least reliable in his own zone at least
 
I am gonna guess something smaller than what some are speculating

RW Oskar Olausson

Hawks have depth at LD with young guys in Vlasic, Allan, Korchinski and Del Mastro so may view moving him to try and get some talent at position we are weak at both in Chicago and Rockford which is C. Olausson seems on outs in Colorado and recent call up may have been to try and showcase him. Hogs have very little talent up front and Olausson is signed for another year so Hawks can slot him in in Rockford and see if change of scenery helps him

Kaiser is further along in development as player (Being NHL regular Dman) and can PK + is capable of playing both right side and left side

All 3 guys are 22 years old

Imagine MacKinnon, Drouin, and Jones all on the same team. 3 of the top 4 from the 2013 draft. Hockey is so weird sometimes.

Agreed. He should be nowhere near the highest paid guy in the league, and it sounds like that's what he is looking for. But for fun,

Seth Jones+Teravainen/Bertuzzi+Hall?

Gives Bedard a guy to play with who has all the experience in the world, and can be a great second fiddle. gets rid of Jones, and they get a 2C.

Avs look at it as Jones@ 9.5>Mikko@ 13+ long term. Also gives them a couple forwards to replace those lost, one signed for cheaper than Mikko long term and a rental who can maybe be a bit of a driver on his own line better than Mitts seems to be for them?

Or maybe it's Mikko for Picks that they turn around and use elsewhere to fix the roster.

Nah, Mikko is a product of Mackinnon. Mittelstadt is trash; even their coach seems to think so with reducing his minutes steadily as the year goes on. Idc if he put up some points on Buffalo, he's such a weak nothing player I'm shocked they traded Byram for him.

Seth Jones is exactly the type of guy that fans hate and GM's overrate and overpay for and could look nice behind Makar and the avs. Trouba went full cost and returned some minor assets, and Jones has shown a lot better than him over their careers. Maybe you see retention on Jones, but I doubt it.

Maybe it's a different fwd than Hall, or a some more minor pieces. But I can definitely see them turfing Mikko+Mitts and targeting multiple fwds and a D. They lack depth and there is lots of guys that can rack up points on Mack's wing. Maybe not 100pts, but 70 for sure. And if you can get another guy that can run a line better than either of those guys, plus Jones, you're probably better off.
