Your kinda cherry picking his stats, most people believe he was the griffs best player last year, he also finished the year with 11 points in 9 playoff games. So far this year he has 5 goals in his first 3 games. I know alot of people think he is a "bust" or that he wont turn into much because he just turned 22 and hasnt made the nhl yet, but the simple fact is sometimes it just takes some guys longer. You will find most wing fans are still quite high on him because he has been improving every year and wants to improve any way he can.

While I understand where you are coming from, Richard Panik also had 3 point in 6 games with ~12 minutes TOI last playoffs and has had 5 points in 4 games thus far this season. I took a sample size of two full seasons and you took a sample size of 12 games, albeit 9 playoffs. I feel like thats cherry picking more so than anything I've spouted.

That said, I do understand where the wings fans in this thread are coming from. The top 4D/2D piece of the puzzle is more of a "make me trade him" than "hes on the market" to put it into better words. Which I find completely understandable! I personally don't think any team is going to bite on that really, so I thought I'd offer pokka who I think is a comparable D-Prospect to mantha as a winger prospect. Agree to disagree at least?

If we were to move Mantha as a bigger part of a package deal to land us a top 4 RHD/LHD

Unless it's a top 4 RHD/LHD preferably top pairing then Mantha isn't getting dealt. Pretty much think Shattenkirk or Trouba maybe a slim chance Fowler something like that in a package deal with Mantha included.

Seems like vague mentions to "large packages" to me

Neither of the two comments that have stated the top 2D/4D requirement have had anything to do with vague mentions to "large packages". They are pretty clear cut, I trimmed the fat on the comments to get to the part that is actually applicable for you. Both of those are either stating or insinuating Mantha as the main piece in the deal, which I don't think any team would really go for. Aside from MAYBE St.Louis but thats a tough one too cause they are actually competing this season and probably don't want to let shattenkirk go, although the other option is letting him walk for nothing.

You're forgetting team needs though. Detroit doesn't want more B prospects to fill out their blueline depth. They have plenty of those already. Mantha has been part of many trade rumors in the past involving players like Myers and Phaneuf. Teams certainly value a 6'5, 220 pound scoring winger that skates like the wind and can shoot from anywhere.

Both of those posts literally include the word "package" , one even going so far as to say "part of a package deal" ??????????????????????????????????????????

Rumors don't equal actual trade value. For him to be called a scoring winger he has to pick up his scoring in larger sample sizes, and maybe get to the NHL.

And both are clearly stating that Mantha is the biggest part of the package. Again, which you seemed to glance over in my last post, I don't think Mantha is a good enough piece to be the main piece in a package for a 2D/4D. Its pretty straight forward no? Mantha+2nd+3rd doesn't get you a signed top four defensemen. Do you understand the point of view I'm at here?

Though he has been mentioned as the main piece. Which I don't think he has enough worth to bring in a 2/4D that isn't a rental.

Where did anyone mention Mantha as the main piece? I've never seen a Wings fan suggest that. The lone quote that references a "bigger part of a package deal" likely insinuates the typical Nyquist/Tatar, Svech/Mantha, plus pick deals that Wings fans throw around.

Trouba

With some posters on here saying Trouba wants to play in Detroit, maybe he ends up being part of a bigger deal?

Mantha + one of Detroit's second pairing D's for Trouba?

I clearly meant that Mantha would be part of a package deal for a top 4 RHD/LHD case in point to clarify it more.

Mantha+Detroit's 2017 2nd round pick for Cam Fowler.

Nyquist/Tatar+Mantha/Svechnikov+Detroit's 2017 2nd round pick for Kevin Shattenkirk plus long term extension like 7 years @ $6.5 million per.

DDK+Mantha+Detroit's 2nd round pick for Jacob Trouba @ 6 years $30 million or the DDK deal.

Deals like these. Other then maybe Cam Fowler i was pretty much meaning that Mantha would be included in the deal. Not the main piece because that would never happen.

Didn't know thats what wings fans were throwing around, wasn't mentioned here at all until the comment two after yours. "bigger part of a package" could be taken as he is the piece that holds the most value, that isn't an unreasonable assessment.

Thanks for clarifying, those are much more agreeable. Though I think your selling fowler short.

The thing about Fowler is the ducks want to move him for cap reasons, they get a seemingly NHL ready top6 prospect they have cost control over for the next ~5 years. Yea is a little light maybe, but they need to sign Lindholm.
