You still wish we drafted Vilardi, bro.
What’s done is done. I hated the pick when we made it two years ago, but he’s our prospect now, and I want him to succeed to the best of his ability with this team. Him being a Holmstrom is better than him being a bust.
The athletic had an article a few weeks ago that basically said he's not cleared to play hockey but his rehab is going well.Btw, is Vilardi still injured? Like, mostly away from hockey for 2 seasons?
Holmstrom wasn't a lottery pick....
Kings GM knows a return to Stanley Cup contention leans on prospect developmentThe athletic had an article a few weeks ago that basically said he's not cleared to play hockey but his rehab is going well.
Ras was a top ten pick in the NHL. If you are fine with that being Holmstrom then we are done talkingIf we want to get technical, neither was Rasmussen. But I don’t want to spoil your narrative

If Ras is the same as Holmstrom that's a major draft miss...Played 1000+ games, recorded 500+ points. Yeah...I think I’d be “fine” with that. Not the perfect result, but check the odds on players lasting 1000+ games and being a useful player for most of them.
Okay, he's probably a major draft miss. Again, what's done is done. I'd rather him be a contributing player in the NHL and an asset to our team than be an outright bust. If this guy is a middle six power play specialist, then I'll take it over him being out of the league in the next four years. You have to pick your battles here.If Ras is the same as Holmstrom that's a major draft miss...
Fine if those are the only options but I hope he can be at least Mantha level player someday.Okay, he's probably a major draft miss. Again, what's done is done. Are you guys expecting a superstar to be picked @ 9OA? I mean, the closest in the last 20 years or so is Logan Coture and in his D+2 he was still in Juniors and 9th in scoring. So why don't we take a beat and wait for, you know, the guy to develop a little bit.
What? Wasn’t Pastranak taken at like 19?Are you guys expecting a superstar to be picked @ 9OA? I think they all make the NHL, though impacts will obviously vary.I look forward to the day that we have a very strong and diverse skill set top 9 with an excellent 4th line doing 4th line things.
Top 9 possible players...
Larkin
Mantha
Bertuzzi
Athanasiou
Zadina
Svechnikov
Hirose
Veleno
Rasmussen
Plus others that we have now and those drafted / acquired in the future. There’s only 3 top line positions. We should be excited as to what we can build for a top 9 in the coming years.
If we have a developed Ras on line 3 in a few years that’s awesome.
25th, but how is that relevant? What? Wasn’t Pastranak taken at like 19?
Top ten in points last season, drafted position overall:
58 is on a line with 1
71 is doing great work with 2nd rounders
104 is doing work with 6 and 6 overalls
The top scorers are normally a top 3 or with a top 3 player.
I get what you're saying, that isn't what I was trying to allude to, at least I don't think I was. If we go with that list, look how many top three picks are on those teams. I think Boston is the only team that didn't have a top three pick?Interesting list.
BUT, last two Stanley Cup winners didn't need a Top10 scorer.
And if we go further...
2019 STL - no Top10 scorer
2018 WSH - no Top10 scorer
2017 PIT - yes
2016 PIT - yes
2015 CHI - no Top10 scorer
2014 LAK - no Top10 scorer
2013 CHI - yes
2012 LAK - no Top10 scorer
2011 BOS - no Top10 scorer
