Chicago Blackhawks 2015 Record 8-8-2

The Chicago Blackhawks have registered a mediocre 8-8-2 record in calendar year 2015.

Hossa - 36 years old (at least he has shown up the last three games)
Rozsival - 36 years old (stick a fork in him, he's done)
Richards - 34 years old (0 goals, 2 assists in the last 9 games)
Oduya - 33 years old (-7 plus/minus in the last 18 games)
Sharp - 33 years old (0 goals, 1 assist in the last 7 games)
Keith - 31 years old (0 goals 1 assist in the last 6 games)
Crawford - 30 years old (2.71 GAA in calendar year 2015)

Time to ship crates of Geritol to the Chicago Blackhawks.

As a footnote, Tim Erixon 7:28 TOI in calendar year 2015. Seriously, why bother trading for the player in the first place.

It's a long season....they'll be ready when the real season starts.

Their D has been sloppy and they look bored.

Then they turn in a game like the one against Anaheim, or the one against St Louis and then it's like 'oh right, that's what these guys can do when their give-o-**** meter isn't bottoming out'.

They've been a really frustrating team to watch this season.

They could be doing better, but the OP seems to be a very down guy for a fan of a team that's the first multiple cup winner since the Red Wings.

They were mediocre the second half of last season too, as I recall, and yet they wound up in the WCF.

But it is amusing that when they're slumping - beginning of the year, since January - the media doesn't attribute it to a lack of leadership, the way they do the slumps of other teams.

Good teams struggle too. That half year where they set the record start was an aberration.

Not really noteworthy IMO

Unless Winnepeg passes them, why should Chicago get too worried about the regular season? We've seen what they can do when they need to.

Wouldn't be surprised at all to see them skating around the ice with the Cup again this year.

They aren't missing the playoffs. No reason to go gangbusters now.

Did the same thing during last year's regular season around the same time. Think it actually stretched to around 30 games. Didn't end up mattering at all.

Like the kings they can have a stretch of bad play but when they get to the games that count they win.

This core typically smells around the Olympic/All-Star break. Not too worried, but it is annoying to watch. I still watch though, just drink more beer and swear more than usual.

They're gliding into the playoffs, perhaps, to have something extra in the tank. Those veterans will pay dividends then.

And nobody wants to play them in the playoffs. Couldn't care less about the regular season as long as we don't have to face Nashville in round 1.

first time someone has ever said that i think

joking aside, the hawks look like they're still the well-oiled machine they have been for the past few years. they're just in a mini-slump, which isn't even that bad.

you can see it even in individual games...once they realize uh oh we need to put more effort in they come out and show they are one of the best teams. nothing to worry about. they will go into the playoffs and go on the road against the blues and it will be a hell of a series

I think we had a slump like this last year at this time of the year and it lasted a while and look at what we did in the playoffs.
As long as we're in a slump now and not in the playoffs, I'm fine with it.

Last night was a perfect example even though we didn't get the 2 points.

They show up when it matters.

They seem to have a hard time getting up for inferior teams. I think it's a real issue if they want to finish any higher than third, or even remain above the wildcard.

But they beat St Louis (I'd say other than goaltending STL was better, but goaltending is as much a part of the game as anything else), they beat Anaheim convincingly, and they put on a show in the last half of the game last night.

They can bring it when they want to. Probably the best team on paper in the NHL. I don't think they'll have a problem playing 60 in the playoffs.

And to the OP, while I love seeing that some of their good players are in their 30s, Hossa is the only one in regression age that is relevant. Sharp has a couple good years left, and 19 and 88 will be there for a very long time.

I can't believe Crawford is 30 though. Wow.

They have played poorly since before christmas. Team D is an afterthought and Rozy/Oduya pairing is a train wreck.

Then you watch them last night they suck for 50 mn then play lights out for 10. Which frustrates a fan because you see what they are capable of but choose not to play that way. don't need that lights out for 60 but more than 10Mn a week.
